ISSUE 134: what can be lookd as beliefs?
134 students should be encouraged to realize that mental agility and rhetorical skill must be accompanied any sincerity and the true conviction of their own beliefs.I used to think not everybody has brielfs, so what's the connection of mental agility and rhetorical skill with people's beliefs? In the scientific research, which require mental agility, is there any relation with beliefs?

一方面从mental agility入手：没有立场，就没有进行“推理”的ground。坚定的belief使一个人有立足点，从而能理直气壮的驳斥或赞同某些观点。比如做的clone的research。
另一方面从rhetorical skill入手：文风代表作者的阶级立场。比如贵族通常偏爱Odyssey那样华丽的宫廷文字；老百姓就喜欢Mark Twain那样直白的表达。前者代表贵族阶级利益；后者代表大众利益。

（3）真诚和信仰有利于以后的SHAPING A STABLE PERSONALITY，对人对己都能起很好的自觉的约束作用，能使学生走向社会以后的言行都符合自己的信仰。
后来翻看了一下孙远列的提纲，大致和我的中文提纲是一样的，你可以参考：
(1) Today's education gives to much stress to academic skills.
(2)No man can afford to express, through words or acts, that which is not according with his won beliefs, and if he does so, he must pay by the loss of ability to influent others.(这句话的意思是，没有人会冒着失去影响他人的能力（the ability to influent others）的危险，而去做一些和自己的信仰不相符合的言行)
(3)Our beliefs about what we are and what we can be precisely determine what we will be.

这个题目翻译得不太好。rhetoric skills不宜翻译成“夸张的技巧”，我觉得这里只能取引申意，即“浮面的技巧”。很明显，题目对这四个关键词都是不带感情色彩的，所以不要先入为主把感情色彩投射到题目上去。这里“浮面的技巧”可以举个例子。比如一个数学掌握得非常好的学生，却缺乏经济学的感觉（在国外，数学工具是学好经济学的最最基本的要素），老喜欢建立一个又一个漂亮的模型，但是对于解释现象毫无帮助，他是为了建模型而建模型。那么这时他的数学才能就成了rhetoric skills
还有，conviction这个词可以理解为投身某领域的热忱和坚持，比如对于他本门学科的热爱和追求，也可以理解为受一个崇高信仰的引领而从事学术研究，多多利用他的聪明脑袋和技巧。
这个ISSUE的提纲你的问题和上面一样，缺乏一个最基本的观点，导致后面虽然有分论点，但是他们用来支持什么呢？读者不知道。
此外，我建议你不要采用第二条和第三条提纲。这个提纲前后两句话是照应的，很明显在说学术方面。聪敏的思维和表面的技巧是否有助于获取真正的知识？是否足以使一个人成为学富五车的大家？是否保证他是真心向学，而不是向大众卖弄他的知识？是否需要sincerity and the true conviction of their own beliefs来保证他能做成大学问？
所以我认为你最好先集中于学术领域来论证这个问题，如果论证完毕还有时间，可以再引申几句到日常做人方面。
