After watching “Titanic,” many people left the theaters wondering why Jack didn’t live. Couldn’t he share that plank with Rose?

The curious and nerdy people of Reddit decided to tackle this pressing issue. A user ran the math and the short answer is no. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack was doomed to die. “As force of gravity is larger than that of buoyancy; Leo and Kate will be swimming with the fishes.”

The calculations show the force of buoyancy (882.9 newtons) is less than that of gravity (1926.684 newtons). Alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.
