Issue152 “The only responsibility of corporate executives, provided they stay within the law, is to make as much money as possible for their companies.”

It is difficult to define the meaning of a successful corporate executive. Generally speaking, those who make a great deal of profits win warmly applaud from both shareholders and subordinates on the presumption they obey the law .In my opinion, though making profits as much as possible is a significant and indispensable responsibility of corporate executives, we should take building a prosperous corporate culture into consideration as another.

As a corporate executive, first of all, he or she should comply with the law. Staying within the law is the key for a company to obtain success for ever. Though some companies are apt to make money tentaively by taking advantage of ignominious means, legal system will inevitably punish their law-breaking behaviors. The notorious Anron is the best example to illustrate the fact that professional ethic of corporate executives is to abide by the law, otherwise the companies will become another Anron, law-breaking behavior not only collapse the company, but also push the whole business into a mess.

In addition to standing by the law, profits can be regarded as the most important factor when a company com into existence. Corporate executives are hired just because the board of company believes that they have the capacity to make money. As a result, to a certain degree, the criteria that judge whether corporate executives are worthy enough rely on how much money they make. If one corporate executive lead the company to gain an outstanding achievement on money, let alone the shareholders will satisfy, he will also satisfy his salary from the company.

However, we can not conclude that the only responsibility of corporate executives is to captain the company to earn money as much as possible. Another goal of corporate executives, which is as significant as making money, is cultivate or continue a proper corporate culture for the companies in which they work. Corporate culture is the intrinsic value of company; include relationship between boss and subordinate, the style of costume in working place, basic principles and slogans, etc. Beneficial corporate culture will inspire the staff to work effectively and efficiently, attractive talent to join the company. The public's criteria on judging a company consist not only that consider the company is profitable or not, but also  the company occupy an unique, beneficial corporate culture or not. Jack Welch, newly-retired former CEO of GE, is recognized as a successful corporate executive due to his contribution to GE's corporate culture and great amount of profit. Help the company to function in a long term, in other words, profits of the company are not tentative, but enable the company win the ability to make money forever. The Sweden-based furniture company IKEA has already turned into a famous company with the help of its core corporate culture which never change when IKEA was founded. In contrast with IKEA, many companies once illustrious eclipse in that they did not have a stable corporate culture, the mobility of their corporate culture eventually bring the company into a changeable company system, nevertheless, they were not existed now.

Without doubt, a successful corporate executive has the responsibility to make money as much as possible; without doubt, a successful corpora executive has the responsibity to produce or remedy corporate culture. Actually, under the premise of abiding the law, all companies will appreciate this kind of wise corporate executive, and enjoy benefits brought by them as well as corporate culture contributing to society.

我感觉你写的不错,思路很清晰,优点不说了

the mobility(好像是在夸奖一样,我感觉instability或fluctuation比较好一些吧) of their corporate culture eventually bring the company into a changeable company system, nevertheless, they were not existed now(这里也有点问题,怪怪的).
