Human being, as an advanced animal, is full with activity of intelligence and mentality. A person who is healthy in both body and mind needs a harmonical development of one’s intellect and emotion. So I do agree the notion that students would benefit more from an education that taught them to explore their own emotions besides traditional education.
Firstly, emotion, which is defined as an intense mental state that arises subjectively rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes, is an important part of a person. When one grows older, one’s emotion ages at the same time. A change of emotion such as joy, love or sorrow, anxiety will affect people’s performances and efficiency straightly. Therefore, the significant of one’s sentiment developing normally can never be ignored. Only an education emphasized the development of students' capacity for reasoning and logical thinking accompanied by the development of their emotion can culture them to be people with strong ability to solve problems and seek new ones. If the latter is lost, the person will not be a healthy and sanity one. Nowadays the reports that crime in youth happened in American school can be found everywhere, a study on the young criminals by a Institution of Social problem suggests that more than more than 95% crimes come from a hurt of their heart. That’s the consequence of the neglecting of the development of young emotion healthily.
Furthermore, the regularly growing of emotion can accelerate development of one’s other capability such as reasoning and logical thinking. That’s because the sentiment and the intelligence are working together in one’s doing and thinking. Well growing of emotion can bring fine spirit and optimistic attitude to a person when against anything. Fully self-confidence can encourage a person, when faced with difficult problems, to solve the problems, but another person lack the capability, may give the problems up. Persons with infantile autism can’t study very well because they are not willing to exchange opinions with other people. Moreover, by exploring one’s emotions, one can inspire his interest in the development of capacity of reasoning and logical thinking, which can promote the latter.
Therefore, educationist should pay attention to the growing of emotion of the students. Social progress needs excellent persons with strong ability, who are healthy both in body and mind.
Nowadays, universities have been taking the emotion education into consideration. Freshmen in the university in the United States must study the psychology. But that dose not meet the need at all. Modern educational systems must emphasize the identical importance between the developments of students’ intellect and emotion.
In sum, emotion development of a person is important. It can help people to become mature persons with strong ability to solve problems, create new notions, and also can promote the corresponding development of a person’s other capability. Thus, education system should strengthen the aspect of emotion development. Only this can benefit students more and so does the whole society. 112. 没有卡时间，边写边查字典因为总觉得用词不准确，还有emotion的定义是字典上的标准定义，的确很好，值得背诵。
