Issue185
Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.

The statement exactly illuminates the benefits of scandals, no matter in politics, academia, or other areas. I agree this claim with little reserve.

Scandals are usually considered to connect with something illegal, immoral, and secret.  So it is hard to acquaint them for public. Once the public are informed of them, the people involved in the scandal suffer great pressure and maybe punishment legally and morally.

The benefit of scandals is mainly that they enable us to pay attention to the problems that were masked and may cause potential loss and hidden damage. For example, one of the famous scandals involves two major American airline companies. The CEOs of these American airlines companies contemplate to raise fight tickets and the two companies are secretly unified. However, the tape recording of the talk between the two CEOs was exposed to the public, which irrigate rage of people. If this scandal had never been revealed, then it is consumers that suffer the loss at last and the companies gain extra profit by breaking the law. This example illustrates clearly that scandals are beneficial to us by exposing possible loss and hazard.

Scandals are phenomena, not the origin of problems, so another benefit of the scandals is that they force people to think why these scandals happen, search for solutions and finally may reform the system. One shocking scandal in 2002 is the scandal of Enron. By inappropriately counting profits, the corporate made up false Balance Sheet in order to ensure investors so that the stock price would be sticky to a high price. However, this illegal behavior was denounced (laid open/unmasked). Consequently, Enron bankrupted along with several companies involved. This scandal, without any doubt, amount to an earthquake in business world. While still shocked, people discuss why this ashamed issue happens.  Many people believed that the origin of the scandal was the current supervising system of corporation.  From then on, several policies, stricter rules and more severe punishment were employed to reform the system. Now, corporations have to seriously deal with the authenticity of accounting statements。A better system ensures the operation of society normally. Scandals don't show us what we should do positively, but tell people where the problems are and ultimately propel the society.

To sum up, scandals should not be regarded as the nothing but immoral and useless thing. Like medicine, they are bitter but helpful to the health of a society.

The statement exactly illuminates the benefits of scandals, no matter in politics, academia, or other areas. I agree this claim with little reserve.

Scandals are usually considered to connect with something illegal, immoral, and secret. So it is hard to acquaint them for public. Once the public are(是不是应该用单数?) informed of them, the people involved in the scandal suffer great pressure and maybe punishment legally and morally.

The benefit of scandals is mainly that they enable us to pay attention to the problems that were masked and may cause potential loss and hidden damage. For example, one of the famous scandals involves two major American airline companies这句话听起来较别扭,是不是调换一下前后顺序好一些呀?. The CEOs of these American airlines companies contemplate(不是很好) to raise fight(flight) tickets and the two companies are secretly unified. However, the tape recording(record) of the talk between the two CEOs was exposed to the public, which irrigate(the) rage of people. If this scandal had never been revealed, then it is consumers that suffer the loss at last and the companies gain extra profit by breaking the law. This example illustrates clearly that scandals are beneficial to us by exposing possible loss and hazard.

Scandals are phenomena(不解), not the origin of problems, so another benefit of the scandals is that they force people to think why these scandals happen, search for solutions and finally may reform the system. From then on, several policies, stricter rules and more severe punishment(s) were employed to reform the system.

However, the tape recording of the talk between the two CEOs was exposed to the public, which irrigateirritate,好象已经包含rage的这层意思了 rage of people.

By inappropriately counting profits, the corporatecorporation made up false Balance Sheet in order to ensure investors so that the stock price would be sticky to a high price. However, this illegal behavior was denounced (laid open/unmasked). Consequently, Enron bankrupted along with several companies involved. This scandal, without any doubt undoubtedly, amount to an earthquake in business world.

To sum up, scandals should not be regarded as the nothing 题目里面原来说的是useful, 既然是反驳的话也布应该把它改成nothing呀!but immoral and useless thing. Like medicine, they are bitter but helpful to the health of a society. Bitter pills may have wholesome effects.

另外,举个小错误:“ I agree this claim with little reserve.”应该是with little reservation吧
