issue10 政府应该支助城市

Issue10
Governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive, because it is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated.

正文

It is reasonable that the financial needs of the major cities of a nation should be met by the government. However the reason is not to preserve the national cultural tradition, as the speaker asserts, but to thrive the economy and conserve the history remainders.

If government regards the preservation of the national cultural traditions as a major standard to decide whether to grant the financial support, the major cities would have to lose the qualification, because of the serious influences of the foreign cultures there. Globalization unifies major cities all over the world to a large degree. From New York to Tokyo, citizens in these major cities can even enjoy the same film at the same time. When all these people were attracted by Friends, have their dinner in KFC, and sing spicy girls' songs, we should clearly understand that what change are not only some habits but also the concepts in people's mind and we have enough reasons to worry where their original cultures would be. What's more, it is hard to require a lady grows up with the western teleplays to choose a Chinese traditional wedding ceremony when she marries. Whereas, these cultural traditions are often well conserved in remote town or villages, for the reason that there are fewer invasions of other cultures; in china, for example, only in these places you can see traditional ceremonies in wedding day. So if government decides to preserve culture traditional, it should not waste its money in major cities.

However, the factors to decide financial supports are not so simple. One important thing is the development of the country's economy. Because of the major cities’ important position, government must grant them enough money to thrive them. These cities are windows of a country. Referring to China, people will think of Beijing and Shanghai; referring to Japan, people will think of Tokyo; referring to England, people will think of London, so, undoubtedly, these major cities are where foreigners are most familiar with in this country. Since that, they are the major zones would attract foreign investment and do international business, which play a very important role in the economy field. Furthermore, these cities' flourish would serve as an impetus to the development of the areas around these cities. Because the quick development, these cities must extend and the foreign force would gradually notice other places outsider these cities, the areas besides cities depend on their good locations will benefit most.

In addition, though major cities are not where are fit for preserving traditions, we should not ignore its position as where generated traditions, which mean there are many cherished history remainders. Their governments must preserve these rare heritages, such as Rome great abattoir, Chinese Great Wall, and Australian Sydney opera house.

All in all, major cities should receive the financial support they need for their important position in national economic live and the abundance of history remainders, though they are not the very place to preserve the cultural traditions.

是这样的,这个题目我考虑的话,可能会比较在乎大城市和小的城镇或乡村的比较.至少会是我的一个B.呵呵.
觉得大城市并不能 preserve tradition 这个角度很不错.:)
