贴一下韦式词典的解释:
【undisputed】
not questioned or disputed
【dispute】
transitive verb
1、 a : to make the subject of verbal controversy or disputation
      b : to call into question or cast doubt upon
2 、a : to struggle against : oppose
      b : to contend over
【controversial】
1、 of, relating to, or arousing controversy
2、 given to controversy : disputatious

查下来感觉controversial和undisputed是反义词,如果第二空选D的话,句意有点自相矛盾?

第三个空前面的yet表示转折,可以得知第二,三个空所表意思相反。
第三个空根据后半句可知选insufficient,所以第二个空为undisputed.
Undisputed if controversial 修饰的都是“His importance”。作他的重要性虽有争议但不可否认解

这里的if是即使,带有点让步的意思,(even if)  the importance is controversial, (but) it is still undisputed,

第二空只能是undisputed,表示他的重要性是肯定的。(如果不是具有颠覆性的话。这里controversial 不是指他的重要性,而是他的议题可能具有争议性,但他的重要性是得到大家认同的。
