218 In order for any work of art—whether film, literature, sculpture, or a song—to have merit, it must be understandable to most people.The art is defined that the thing bring people pleasure , so in my point of view , one way to embed the value of the art such film , literature , sculpture, or a song is to get the understand of the most people ,but it is not the only one.
First , in a long history ,the art is not at servance of the masses, but the ruler class and aritcrat . The art is regarded as noble things that common people would have aesthetic to appeciate the value and meaning underlying the art works. Until the 19th century , the art trend to concern the mass lives and thoughts. And the 1950' this kind trend boost high, people like the so-called country music ,crazy Roll and Rock ,the irregulate Jazz, while the classic popular with the noble class is disdained by the masses assesee those are the things far away form his lives. So in the different times , human beings have different way to evaulate the art.
Secondly, sometiomes, the popular works did not have the high comment by the experts in the field. Take the film for example. In the Hoollwood , to survive in this market economy time, many direct know how to make a film which can get a high box-office, but this kind of films are usually assessed by the critics of flim to be the commercial rabbit which have little art and spiritual merits. To the contrary, some articial film which few audenice can understand or like frenquently gain the high comments. So different people have their own way to consider the value of the art works.
On the other hand, some art works are not appreciated by the comptemprory people , but is considered to be the valuable art.The typical example is the Van Gough. His seris works the sunflowers did not gain the concern and comment by his comtemporary, while hundred years later , his works and himself are regards the pioneer of the Impressivinism. Another example is the Kafe,which is famous for his wierd literature work such ---- when he was life , he work cannot be published because the style would not be popular with the masses. But some years late after he died, he works become the hit , the critics said that his book is the spiritual food for the people after undertake the war and Derspression.
To sum up, the art merits always change with the change of the times, the class, the human experiments , it is hard to simply to conclude they must understandable to most people it realize its value. 扛起来~~~~ 文章写的过于简单，注意一下：
