evidence到底是单数还是复数?

我收集了以下一些句子:
1.The prosecution have introduce some new evidence.
起诉方介绍了一些新证据。
2.We have some evidence on him.
  我们有一些不利于他的证据  
3.I believe he is guilty, but I have no evidence to go on.
  我认为他有罪，但是我没有证据。
这些句子中,用的是evidence,我暂时认为evidence是不可数,但是还有下面一些句子推翻了我的假设:
4.Evidences of glacial action on the rocks
  岩石上的冰河留下的痕迹  
5.Further, empirical evidences also showed that early nationalism had its origin in regional and blood ties but not in country.  
  其次，在多数人的行为准则中，地方的和血缘的忠诚强于对国家的忠诚。  
6.In the opinion of some geologists, there are evidences of the existence of man on the earth more than six hundred thousand years ago.
  依照某些地质学家的意见，有证据显示60万年前地球上就有人类存在。  
我现在疑惑这个evidence用在Argument里边到底是evidence还是evidences?

当痕迹,形迹,迹象可为复数,也可为单数

例句六的翻译应该有误!其中应该是迹象、痕迹的意思

有迹象显示60万年前地球上就有人类存在
翻译为There are indications that 60 million years ago on Earth is human existence

如果改为证据,则翻译为There is evidence that 60 million years ago on Earth is human existence

当然这个例子的句子并不通顺,因为是来源于google直译翻译.http://translate.google.com/translate_t  ,虽然两个词有所不同,但单复数应该没有错.

是不可数的。 正好论文写作课上professor说了 作为native speaker，是不会写Evidences的。
