Essays written by Schwartz give unique insight into her philosophy and her creative process and provoke considerations about the human-made and natural world of the future.
The wide-ranging nature of Schwartz’s work is of appeal to professionals across a broad range of design disciplines and urban planners, as well as to a non-professional audience looking for inspiration and innovation. In Schwartz’s words, ‘a landscape can be about anything’.
Martha Schwartz studied at the University of Michigan and Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where she is currently a professor. She is one of the world’s most recognized landscape architects. Tim Richardson is an independent writer on contemporary gardens and landscape architecture. He regularly contributes to The Daily Telegraph and Country Life, both in London, and was gardens editor of Wallpaper*.
