World MBA Tour

Summary of Regional Findings in 2003

1)亚洲:INSEAD   欧洲工商管理学院

Asian schools are strengthening their role in the MBA market. More and more re

cruiters are willing to hire locally from the region. The presence of the INSE

AD campus in Singapore is helping this trend, as is the emergence of several A

ustralian institutions as international class business schools. For the first

time, fifteen Asia-Pacific (including Australia) business schools qualify for

the overall global 100 top schools, based on level of response and interest fr

om recruiters (and the number of qualifying North American schools has fallen

by five schools).

2)欧洲:INSEAD欧洲工商管理学院 和 LBS   伦敦商学院

In Europe, INSEAD and LBS remain the most popular business schools amongst rec

ruiters, though both have been adversely affected by the consulting and bankin

g downturn. Progress is being made by Spanish, German and Swiss schools, which

are succeeding in attracting recruiters. IESE and Instituto de Empresa are tw

o schools showing the strongest increase in performance this year amongst the

top ten European schools, primarily because they are less reliant on consultin

g and financial services recruitment. Mannheim has joined the list of 40 most

popular European business schools for the first time, having only recently ini

tiated an MBA in partnership with Warwick and HEC. The research allows recruit

ers to select executive MBA programmes, many of which have outperformed full t

ime MBA programmes. St Gallen has improved its position a great deal, as has U

niversity of Chicago in Barcelona.

3)美洲:Harvard 哈佛大学和 Wharton  宾夕法尼亚大学沃顿学院

In North America, Harvard and Wharton remain the most popular schools, though

Wharton has been more affected by the Wall Street recession. Harvard has bucke

d this trend and strengthened its relative position this year. Another feature

of the research this year has been the strong performance of the Canadian sch

ools. McGill and Ivey (Western Ontario) both received strong support from dive

rse companies, which has helped push both schools into prominent positions in

the research. Another feature this year has been that a number of smaller scho

ols have dropped out of the list compared to last year.

Latin America has remained stable in terms of the number of recruiter responde

nts and the evaluation of schools. EGADE Tech de Monterrey remains the most fa

voured school in the region, the FGV (Getulio Vargas) attracted stronger suppo

rt from recruiters this year than last year. Interest in Latin American school

s from recruiters based outside the region, remains limited.
