80. "All students should be required to take courses in the sciences, even if they have no interest in science."

I strongly suggest that all of us take courses in sciences, because we can benefit a lot from the study of sciences. From studying sciences, we can perceive things on a higher level, as well as obtaining useful methodologies which can necessarily help us pursue our individual interests even there are people who do not like sciences.

To begin with, I would like to emphasis that studying sciences helps us comprehend the world in a deeper and more comprehensive manner. Technology innovations, as fruit of the development, or explode which we may say, of sciences, have pervaded into nearly every aspects of our quotidian life. In order to master our life and adapt to daily life more effectively, people should be taught the basic achievements of sciences. We have to master the use of computers, which would possibly be a basic skill to survive in the future. Without knowledge of physics, one is less likely to understand the significant phenomenon around him or her thus inefficiently enjoy the colorful life. In short, the accomplishments of science benefit us a lot in our everyday life.

Secondly, we can benefit a lot from not only the accomplishment of sciences, but also the methodologies of sciences. Many experts have pointed out that one of the most considerable things people can gain from a certain discipline is its methodology. From the methodology, we understand ways of critical and original thinking, which could than enlighten us to investigate other problems with similar ideology and methods. And referring to human history, one can wonderfully discover that it is methodology that propel the development of various disciplines thus push the history forward. Take the famous Italy artist Vinci for example, he had successfully applied theories of science subjects to the creating of artistically works and achieved immortal fame. As a result, methodology is another significant thing we can obtain from the study of sciences.

Additionally, even for those who major in social subjects, studying sciences can benefit them a lot. Considering the fact that nearly every discipline today calls for knowledge and experience of outsiders, we can find lots of such examples. Anthropologists, who always investigate into the cultures of different people, desire for the knowledge of technology in order to understand the science achievement of those people. Another more concrete example involves archaeology, in which modern chemical knowledge are largely introduced to help Archaeologists know more detailed information of ancient remaining they have excavated. Besides, in order to compose attractive detective fictions, some recent novelists often refer to sciences.

Admittedly, there is a considerable number of students hate the study of sciences, because it is science subjects that contribute to so many failures in examinations. I concede it is true. However, on the other hand, perhaps it is the fact that they do not get an entirely comprehension of the impact of science and consider it irrelevant with their life. Such suspicions can be effectively disabused if they continue to study hard on the science subjects. And as soon as they become more and more aware of the bearings of sciences, their interest may arouse. At that time, fewer complaints would appear.

To draw a conclusion, I agree with the speaker's assertion that all students should be taught the knowledge of sciences, since sciences are of great importance both in daily lives and in future, and sciences can actually enhance the study in their own majors.

Thank you for your reading.

According to dictionary, 'science courses' refer to courses like maths, physics, chemistry, astronomy and so on, and they are different from sciences. The concept 'science' includes a broad field.

Although you have praised my issue, I still think there are lots of problem remaining in it.

And I think you could send me your exercises.

A culture has its likes and dislikes, it is natural that it has the trend to preserve the aspect it favors and discard the aspect it dislikes. Formal education has played a important part in this trend, but in my point of view, formal education should not and can not be the primary part to promote this formation.
Admittedly, formal education plays an important role to preserve the likes of culture and discard its dislikes. There is un denying that most people have the opportunity to be educated, especially go to school, it means that most people can experience what the formal education teach them, including the cultural favors and dislikes. On the other hand, formal education has the obligation to transmit the cultural to the students. Since students are mostly young, and they receive formal education at a very early age, they have not yet form the mature perspectives about the world and themselves, if formal education instill them with the truth, kindness, and the beauty of the world, it can be very helpful to the students to have a healthy view on the world. In this sense, formal education is very important for the development of both students and the cultures.
However, formal education should not be the primary power to hold what it likes and discredit what it dislikes. There are three good reasons to support my point of view:
Firstly, it is hard to define what a culture likes or what it hates, sometimes this definition can be changeable as what one day it favors is the dislikes several years later. On the other hand, formal education is just a little part of one’s life time, even one’s education time. After they graduate, formal education is a vacuum, how could it influence students to receive the likes and discard the dislikes of culture. When they grew old, they find that what they have taught is different from the reality, it may make the students confused. Secondly, on the education level, it is opposite to the purpose of education. The most important function of education is to teach students to think, to strive, to question, a rigid instill of knowledge may also result in a rigid mind, it is detrimental to the healthily development of students. Thirdly, when some unkind groups or political power realize the importance of formal education, it can be used as a tool of their ill intention. This example is not rare, when Japanese conquered a district of China, the most urgent they did is to reform the formal education system, they imbued little Chinese students with the colonization culture, thus in attempt to resist Chinese revolution against the Japanese army. This example can be seen in modern time that the culture likes and dislikes are imposed on the students like that the Islamic religious extremist instill their hatred to the Islamic world, thus we can see how profoundly it has influenced, a quite number of body bombers are children, they commit suicide when they are not old enough to realize what the world is like.
Moreover, the formal education can not be primary part to transmit the favors and fears of a culture, especially in the modern time. There are many good ways to receive the culture. Whether one is willing or not, they are experiencing the culture atmosphere the moment they were born. As one is a little child, his parents can tell them about the culture, when they graduate from school, they go to work and have connections with all kinds of people, who of course have very important influence on their attitudes toward culture. The fast development of technology has also provided students with computers and other modern equipments to know the other culture, as the globalization has fasted its pace, this experience has become more frequent. It is unrealistic to totally the culture the formal education has taught, students may hold a skeptic view toward the culture likes and dislikes.
In conclusion, formal education is a important role to perpetuate the cultural likes and dislikes, but it should not be and can not be the primary course to the cultural experience.

A culture has its likes and dislikes, it is natural that it has the trend (tends) to preserve the aspect it favors and discard the aspect it dislikes. Formal education has played a important part in this trend, but in my point of view, formal education should not and can not(重复) be the primary part to promote this formation.

Admittedly, formal education plays an important role to preserve the likes of culture and discard its dislikes.
There is un denying that most people have the opportunity to be educated, especially go to school, it means that most people can experience what the formal education teach them, including the cultural favors and dislikes. Since students are mostly young (since most students are young), and they receive formal education at a very early age, they have not yet form the mature perspectives about the world and themselves, if formal education instill them with the truth, kindness, and the beauty of the world, it can be very helpful to the students to have a healthy view on the world. However, formal education should not be the primary power to hold what it likes and discredit what it dislikes. There are three good reasons to support my point of view:

Firstly, it is hard to define what a culture likes or
what it hates (hates), sometimes this definition can be changeable as what one day it favors is the dislikes several years later On the other hand, formal education is just a little part of one’s life time(删), even one’s education time. After they graduate, formal education is a vacuum(啥意思?), how could it influence students to receive (receiving) the likes and discard the dislikes of culture. When they grew (grow) old, they (would) find that what they have (been) taught is different from the reality, it may make the students confused.

Secondly, on the education level, it is opposite to the purpose of education. The most important function of education is to teach students (how) to think, to strive, to (和前面那个to一起删掉) question, a rigid instill of knowledge may also result in a rigid mind, it is detrimental to the healthily development of students.

Thirdly, when some unkind groups or political power realize the importance of formal education, it can be used as a tool of their ill intention. This example is not rare, when Japanese conquered a district of China, the most urgent (thing) they did is(过去时) to reform the formal education system, they imbued littleyoung Chinese students with the colonization culture, thus in attempt to resist Chinese revolution against the Japanese army. This example can be seen in modern time that the culture likes and dislikes are imposed on the students like that the Islamic religious extremist instill their hatred to the Islamic world, thus we can see how profoundly it has influenced, a quite number of body bombers(我不确定你的这种说法正确与否,建议去英文报纸中查一下) are children, they commit suicide when they are not old enough to realize what the world is like.

Moreover, the formal education can not be primary part to transmit the favors and fears of a culture, especially in the modern time. There are many good ways to receive the culture. Whether one is willing or not, they are experiencing the culture atmosphere the moment they were born.

The fast development of technology has also provided students with computers and other modern equipments to know the other culture, as the globalization has fasted its pace, this experience has become more frequent. It is unrealistic to totally the culture the formal education has taught(不明白意思), students may hold a skeptic view toward the culture’s likes and dislikes.

In conclusion, formal education is an important role to perpetuate the cultural likes and dislikes, but it should not be and can not be the primary course to the cultural experience.
