The two charts illustrate the investigation of criminal activity in the period between 1962 and 1997 in Canada. The period of crime rate experienced a growth in the first three decades and declined between 1992 and 1997.
The line chart shows the fluctuation of crime rate in this period. The rate was about 3% in 1962 and ascended significantly to 9% in 1982 while sometimes it stabilized in the same level. After that, the rate fluctuated at the same level for several years and then peaked at around 10% in 1992. However, the figure reversed to 9% in 1997.
For the last half decade in the period, the table showed more detail of crimes. The criminal offences of assault, motor vehicle theft and drugs ascend in the last five years of the period. In contrast, the number of homicide, sexual assault and robbery were substantial decline simultaneously, which were 732, 34355 and 33201 in 1992 and dropped to 558, 27063 and 29590 respectively.
