40.Claim: When planning courses, educators should take into account the interests and suggestions of their students.
  Reason: Students are more motivated to learn when they are interested in what they are studying.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.

观点:同意。
正一:教育是双向的,老师教授和学生学习,那么只有双方有了互动和积极性才能更好地完善教育。教育的主体是学生,那么以人为本在这里可以变为以学生为本,只有满足学生的好奇心才能调动学生的积极性。
没有讲计划课程
正二:因材施教的优点。1.个体差异的存在并不能保证在同一套方法或者教材下,每一位学生的潜力和能力就获得最好的挖掘.2.每个人的偏好,兴趣点都不同,统一的教材会抹杀学生的天赋,创造力。
正三:提出一些怎样提高学生兴趣的方法


讨论后:观点:分情况讨论

每个学生的suggestion 不一样那么就可能成为反面的例子。
在计划课程的过程中
分情况讨论:小学,中学和大学不同,来分情况讨论。
小学不同意这个观点。很多事情都是感兴趣的,他们没有很多能力去make suggestion。这个时候他们还没有形成这个兴趣。因此老师应该make material interesting.
中学:有很多基础的课程是必修的,没有太多的空间。
中学的重点不是interest ,而是通过honor或者examination来motivation。
大学:大学学生有自己主见,因此比较试用

不同场景和不同
这种写法需要明确回应是否同意claim。

此句话,可以简化为,when....because.
这种处理就要有成熟的方法。 看老师的博客89.issue.

The importance of working individually with the problems and potentialities of students recently has been emphasized.Therefore, some people claim when planning courses, we should consider each student’ interests and suggestions and take them in to account. I would agree this is indeed the case in specific age of the students,like college students.However, for students who are not old or mature enough this is quite unreasonable for students who are in primary school or middle school. And I will address reasons in the following part.According to different situation for individuals , too much differences of the course may have both positive and negative effects for  students who are indifferent ages.Thus, we should start splitting in the different situations.

For students who are still in primary school we should consider whether students’ interests are genuine and sincere. Because for primary students they have a load of the natural interests towards subjects which will be too hard for teachers to take account in to their interests. Additionally, children in such period of time they have not form a really ability to make suggestions. It is hard for them to form a detailed interest towards any courses. The possible solution would only be in the case that teachers should guide the student to form a potential interest in the future. Thus, the major task for primary school’s teacher should be making the material more interesting.

At the same time, students who are in high school also don’t have time and ability to put their interests into some specific areas. As we all known, the education in high school is totally different compared with college or primary school. The most significant part in this period time is studying basic knowledge in high school which means these students they do not enough time to contributing to their personal interest courses, even their suggestions. There are numerous compulsory courses they have to study as well as examinations to take. Taking my personal experience as an example, when I was in high school I was really interested in ballet.The problem is that I can only take courses outside the classroom. The situation is quite simple but then when I fully concentrated on the ballet dancing and improved a bit, the grades of my compulsory courses got the opposite direction.The case here is same with the issue that high school students have limited time to do their courses,especially according to their personal interests.Moreover, the motivation for them is by taking examination or some honors.

Lastly, when students get into the universities,the situation become totally different compared with either primary or high school. During this period, the college has already form a specific filed for their interests after choosing their majors.Meanwhile, college students is independent to judge the right or wrong. Therefore, they have their own opinion towards their courses and majors. For this situation the claim that educators should take into account the interests and suggestions of their student will be much better useful and helpful to the college students.


In sum,this claim depends on the different situation with the students. If students are in college, this advice will be widely accepted. Because students have already mature enough to make their suggestions. However, if students are in primary or high school, the claim will not be a good advice as those students have to focus on various courses. Only we consider the merits and demerits for specific group of the students can we assure whether the claim will be convincing and reasonable.

我研究这个题目又钻进牛角尖了,请大家指点一下。我的疑问是这里的planning courses指的是什么啊?是说选课的问题吗?还是对某一科目具体的教学计划?我看到题目的第一反应就是对课程改进,因为它提到学生的suggestion。如果应该理解为选课的话,那有什么可以suggest的呢?
还有我看到王老师分享了一个对40题的开头段的示范。从开头可以看出王老师建议分类讨论,分成大学生和研究生,小学生和初中生。但是这个1+3模型不是要有3个中心段吗?这样分类的话只有两点可写。是我漏掉什么了吗?
还有为了保证文章的完整性也为了凑字数,我想加一个让步段,说应该考虑学生的兴趣和建议,但是要有度,要保证一些课是一定要修的,只有在选修范围呢才可以自由选择,等等。但这个让步只适用于大学生,我不知道插进去合不合适。
请大家帮忙启发一下我,谢谢!

她是分成小学,中学和大学三个段落来写的,不用像你这样让步。其实我认为她的作文是有问题的,因为没有提到reason,一直在同意或者反对claim。个人认为她的文章应该写小学中学都反对claim,大学同意claim,第三段写反对reason,比起兴趣,考学或者和将来找工作的关系更能motivate students
