Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television, newspapers, magazines, and other media pay too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Use specific reasons and details to explain your opinion.
According to a survey from the cultural department of our city, nowadays, the famous people take rather considerable places in people’s mind. Due to the survey, various sounds coming from the society transfer different views. The idea that the media pay too much attention to the famous people is hold by some people because now that the famous people can greatly influence a few people, therefore, their behavior can guide us. However, as far as I am concerned, the media not pay too much attention to the famous people because attention to famous people is not main news and everyone has the right of the privacy.
We have to admit that some media pay attention to famous people. The reason for this phenomenon is that the public are concerned about such news; therefore, the news has a certain profit. For example, the editor of a certain magazine is aware of the public's needs, he reports the margin news simply to satisfy them. In a word, the mass media serves the public and it only report what the public is interested in, be it useful or not.
TV programs, magazines and other media are doing work that is beneficial to the public. Some TV programs teach the audience knowledge that proves to be useful in our daily life. For instance: The Legal Report in CCTV1 teaches people how to protect themselves in face of criminals by presenting the audience with abundant cases. The newspaper named 21'st Century empowered
English learners with learning methods, reading materials and so on. More often than not, the mass media provides the up-to-date news, including government policies, International meetings, and so on, which may be especially important for the public.
In a word, programs and reports about famous people can be used either to entertain people of to satisfy people’s curiosity. However, the main task for the media not pays too much attention to famous people, reporting and serving us.
