Which one do you think has more effects for human beings, television or telephone?

Television, which is one of the most important tools of killing time, has a great influence on people’s daily life. In my family, my parents always spend at least 4 hours on televisions. However, since television is only a sing way communication, the effects of television is not that much of phone, a helper of communication and connection to the whole world for almost everyone.
In television programs, there are always too many junk information, like advertisements, which may just cost your time without bring you little pleasure, you are somehow forced to receive these meaningless part of programs. However, telephone, which is considered to be one of the most important innovations by Times, provides users a way to communicate with each other across the long distance. Just like Bell’s word ‘Hello’ are widely spread out to the whole world, the phone network also step in every field of human society. For example, we call 991 for help when meet emergency; we call ETS to get our information on TOEFL; we can even talk about the match of Los Angeles Lakers with our friend across the Pacific Ocean by a sing wire through the phone. In this way, phone can not only be a tool of communication, it can also be a way to express your happiness and sorrows.
Undoubtedly, the phone has it intrinsic benefits compared with television. However, when we share the benefits brought by phone, we are still facing the negative impacts of the phone. For example, you might get awake by the phone in midnight when you are sleeping. In these occasions, phone must be a nightmare to you. What’s more, in this era of commonly use communication tools, people’s patient seems to be even worse. If you get late in the dating, the first thing you friend want to do is give you a call. The phone do change our way of thinking, we no longer want to listen to our friend’s explain, we only want to ask why they don’t even give us a call. Ironically, if you don’t like the TV programs, you have choice to turn off the TV set, but you have no choice but finding an excuse when facing your friend’s angry calls.
Every new invention is a double-edged sword; both the positive and negative effects of the impacts of the new invention must be taken into consideration for a reasoning judge. Since he telephone has more influence on both its benefits and problems, it is clearly that phone has more effects on human beings, the creator and sufferer of new inversion.

The reading passage explores the issue of 4 days working. The professor’s lecture deals with the same issue. However, he figure out that the passage is a waste for reading because the suggestion in it won’t make sense. And in his lecture, he uses the following 3 specific points to show his idea.
At first, even though the reading passage suggest that 4 days working will make worker get full relaxed, so they will have few errors in their work time. The professor argues in the lecture that these won’t bring company more profits because company will have to spend more time on training the extra workers, which means more money on health benefits, offices, computers are needed. These will eventually lead to the decrease on company’s profits. Obviously, the professor’s argument disprove it counterpart in the reading.
Moreover, despite the statement in the reading that the unemployment rate will cut down because the 4 days working need more workers; the fact is the way will not be any jobs provided. Then he supports this point with the fact that the company will expect workers to work over time to do the same amount of work of 5 days in order to reduce cost, which will bring more displeasure.
Finally, the professor asserts that more free time will add more risks on reduce quality of life whereas the author of reading material claims the more free time meaning better living for person. The professor proves this claim is indefensible by point out Four days worker will be easier losing their jobs when economics is bad. More relax equals to losing chance to improve their working skills, which is certainly a bad thing for workers. What’s more, they also lose chance of promoting because the company want managers are 5 days workers because they can supervise the company in the whole weekdays.
