我现在在美国高中念书，想申请UW MADISON。本来是打算考SAT的，但是我同学说Madison那里的人都是考ACT，而且ACT简单。我有点困惑到底要准备SAT还是ACT。求告知！谢谢

两个都可以，没有什么区别。SAT/ACT 只是一个方面，还要看楼主的其他方面。

Hello! I am a study abroad consultant in the United States, so I hope it's okay to answer in English.

There is no difference in the eyes of the university whether you test ACT or SAT. Rather, you should consider which test is better for you. You might start by taking some free practice tests and seeing which one you perform better on. I have loads of ACT and SAT resources of my WeChat official account (world_awaits), which might be helpful for you.

Here is an article I wrote a while ago about deciding between the ACT and the SAT:

In the United States, more students take the ACT than the SAT. However, the opposite is true for international students - simply because the SAT is better-known.

But just as US students have a choice in which university admissions test they take, so do you.

Obviously, you should take the test that plays to your strengths. But how do you know which one is better? Well, let's take a look at student tutor's infographic for a quick comparison (see attachment).

Although the new SAT is nearly identical to the ACT, there are some differences. For example, the SAT does not include a science section, and more time is given per question. In fact, have a look at the breakdown by subject:

SAT

Reading - 75 seconds per problem

Math - 83 seconds per problem

Writing/Language - 48 seconds per problem

ACT

Reading - 52.5 seconds per problem

Math - 60 seconds per problem

English - 36 seconds per problem

Your job is to determine which test is going to make you more competitive in the eyes of admissions officers.

At first glance, it appears that the SAT is easier, but it is very important that you remember these admissions tests are graded on a curve. This means that your score is determined by comparing your performance against that of the other test takers. So, while the SAT may be “easier”, it is easier for everyone who takes it. And since the ACT is harder for everyone who takes it, this is something you can use to your advantage.

If you are able to work quickly and excel in science reasoning, then taking the ACT will probably give you a huge advantage over your competition. If, on the other hand, you prefer to take your time and think through your answers, the SAT is likely the better option.

So what now? Should you take the ACT or the SAT? I always advise that you start by taking complete, timed practice tests for both of them. Then you can consider which test you prefer and perform better on.

Once you have determined whether you prefer the ACT or the SAT, you need to determine whether you will take the optional essay. Conduct a little university research ahead of time to see if you will need to take the test or if the test is "recommended" (which really means you have to take it). If none of the schools you are applying to require or recommend the essay, don't spend your time and energy taking it.
