Ph.D. Students Enrollment on Applied Machine Learning @HKPolyU

Our research group in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has openings for Ph.D. students in the field of Applied Machine Learning. Recently we are working on industry 4.0, and their two underpinning foundations, data-driven machine learning, edge computing and networking. We are working on two particular applications, the high-speed rails, and smart energy system, all have important academic and societal, economic impact. With the support of our collaborators, we have the access to the data and experimental environment.

If admitted, the support during the Ph.D. period is guaranteed. To apply, you must have English test scores on either TOEFL or IELTS. Maturity, self-motivation and the ability to work independently are expected. Preference will be given to the one with (or expected) a Master's degree. Students are also encouraged to apply for Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship.

If accepted, a scholarship of around HK$16400 per month will be awarded.

Graduated students in our group finally have work with positions in:
1. Rank T3 or above in Tencent (Note that the common rank for PhD graduates is T2.1);
2. Tech Scientist Club in JD.com;
3. or start up his own companies on Green Buildings.

Prof. Wang is indeed a very nice supervisor and now in his great ages for research. The past three years we have 16 papers on well-known conferences like IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICNP, ACM BuildSys, ACM CIKM, ACM/IEEE IWQoS, IEEE RTSS, etc and 12 papers on journals: http://www4.comp.polyu.edu.hk/~c ... on/publications.htm

想问一下您，不知道，申请phd对于学生的一般要求是怎么样的呢？我本科是国内985，但是没有研究经历。谢谢

同学你好，关于对攻读PhD的学生要求，不同组是不一样的。我们组一般是招985的学生，研究经历并不是必须的，也希望学生本身有比较突出的学习成绩或者项目经历等。具体还是看个人各方面。

如果同学想知道比较通用的学生要求，建议移步寄托的定位贴，比如：https://bbs.gter.net/thread-1017284-1-1.html以及 https://bbs.gter.net/thread-1060966-1-1.html，可以算出自己的分数和录取概率。如果概率很高自然皆大欢喜；如果还想提升概率，就建议早点与感兴趣的老师联系了。
