If your teacher says something incorrect in a class, what will you do? 1. Interrupt your teacher right away 2. Keep silent 3. Correct your teacher after class

To err is human as no one is divine. It is forgivable that teacher says something incorrect during a class and it is where the controversy arise. Different students may take various measures facing such situation. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to correct my teacher after class rather than interrupt the teacher right away or keep silence for the following reasons.

First of all, it is an efficient and convenient way for students to correct teacher after class. Some mistakes just happened unconsciously when a teacher imparted knowledge to students in a class. In my college, a class usually last for an hour continuously, a professor generally request for four classes per day. It is a laden work that teacher do not have enough time to have a relax. Such mistakes made in class is understandable. If someone interrupted teacher on a class, both teacher and some other students were affected, such as causing lots of confusion on your classmates and showing no respect to your teacher. More importantly, syllabus can not be done on time and the class time had to be extended. There is one way to solve such circumstance. Office hours, which are generally arranged after class, would be used telling teacher that he or she made a mistake on a question by students.

In addition, it is a wise method for students to correct teacher after class and even sometimes it offers us some unexpected results. Take my experience for instance. When I was a senior, I went to a math professor’s office after a class and told him that he made a mistake on calculating process. He praised me that I did not keep silence but to point out the error. Plus, he said that he was searching people helping him do a project. So he asked me whether I was interested in taking it or not. In the end, I was pleased to acquire a part time job as an assistant research. Not only did it helped me accumulate abundance of experience but it was beneficial for my resume and future career.

Admittedly, it is a direct way for students to interrupt a teacher right away for asking some right answers and all students could acquire some knowledge immediately. But it does have some drawbacks. In this way, both teachers and students can hardly concentrate on because of interrupting, also it was easily deviating from the original topic and can not finish the syllabus on time. Moreover, it was considered challenging the authority as a teacher and sometimes it was harmful to teacher’s reputation.

According to a recent research conducted by perking university aiming to find out how students behave when recognizing the teachers’ incorrect answer. It turns out that about more than 50 percent of students surveyed will correct their teacher after class. While less than 20 percent of students choose to interrupt their teacher in class right away and nearly 30 percent of students will just keep silence. The result also shows that if meeting the wrong comments made by teachers, most students tend to communicate with their teachers after class in terms of the problem.

In a nut shell, correcting your teacher after class has abundant of advantages outweigh the disadvantages. From a long-term point of view, it will be a wise and convenience method for students. such numerous advantages does the third choice that correct teacher after class right has that I would definitely choose it.
