There have been numerous well-documented extinctions of indigenous species caused by the introduction of non-indigenous predators and pathogens. However, surprisingly few extinctions of indigenous species can be attributed to competition from introduced species. For example, during the past 400 years, 4,000 plant species have been introduced into North America, and these nonindigenous plants currently account for nearly 20 percent of North America’s plant species. Yet no evidence exists that any indigenous North American plant species became extinct as a result of competition from new species could mean that such extinctions take longer to occur than scientists initially believed or, alternatively, that extinctions are rarely caused by competition from nonindigenous species.

文章第一句:很多记载物种灭绝是因为外来物种。
第二句：但是，很少灭绝可以归因于和外来物种的竞争。
第三句：举例，400年里，4000种外来物种引入北美，这些非本地物种现在占了20%。
第四句：但是没有证据证明北美灭绝的本地物种是因为新外来物种引起的，这可能说明。。。或者。。。
问北美例子目的。
答案E。怎么排除A？A怎么翻译？我理解是“例子用来削弱提出的一种解释，因为缺少证据证明发生的特定现象”
虽然可以说例子是支持第二句，但是这个例子不也说明外来物种导致本地物种灭绝缺少证据么。第二句一看到however，就反应是转折意思。

这篇文章第一题

解析说“E选项refuting a proposed explanation 不相干”，但是我觉得E毛病应该是后面部分“ for the increasingly rare occurrence of a particular type of species extinction.”，文章反驳的不是这个内容。文章反驳的是“refuting a proposed explanation for a particular type of species extinction.”
所以排除E。最后只剩下A.
所以我的观点如果E 是 “refuting a proposed explanation for a particular type of species extinction.”
那A,E都对了，而不是解析所说“refuting a proposed explanation 不相干”，不知道大家怎么看
