Funded Ph.D. positions available in electrical power engineering at Missouri S&T

There are openings for funded Ph.D. students in the power engineering group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly known as University Missouri - Rolla) in Rolla, Missouri. The funded positions include full tuition waiver and monthly stipend, and may start as early as Spring 2018 (January 2018).

I am looking for highly motivated students with solid background in one or more of these disciplines: power systems, control, operation research, or applied mathematics. Our interdisciplinary research requires students to have strong mathematical skills and computer programming skills. Having an earned M.S. degree at the time of enrollment is a plus. Students with prior research experiences in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: Power system operation, Generation and transmission planning, Power system optimization and economics, High performance computing, Electricity market simulation and design, Distributed generation and control, Machine learning and big data analytics.

I have over ten years working experience in power industry and IT industry, and aim to conduct research that has both scientific significance and real world value. If you are interested in joining my group, please send your resume that includes a list of your in-major courses and grades, overall GPA, publication list if any, GRE score, TOEFL score (for international applicants), and names of three references via email to Dr.Rui Bo at rbo@mst.edu.

The power engineering program at Missouri S&T is a mature program with high national recognition, strong industrial support, and multi-disciplinary ties.
