The research group of Dr. Xiao Fu in the school of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Oregon State University is hiring PhD students. Offers will be made with full financial support.
Dr. Xiao Fu’s group focuses on research topics spanning the broad areas of machine learning and signal processing, with recent emphases on big data analysis, multiview analysis, hyperspectral imaging, and tensor/nonnegative matrix factorization. For more information, please see: http://people.oregonstate.edu/~fuxia/
The research group is looking for self-motivated students who are interested in deep learning-enabled sensing and communications, statistical machine learning, and also large-scale optimization. We are looking for candidates who have strong linear algebra, probability, and optimization background. Good English skills will also be appreciated (for example, with TOFEL 90+ or IELTS 6.5+). Students with research experience will be highly competitive. The hired applicant is expected to start either Sep 2019 or Jan 2020.
Oregon State University (OSU) is located in the safe and beautiful college town, Corvallis (Latin: heart of the valley), which is one hour away to the Pacific coast of North America. It is also only one hour away from Portland, one of the most diverse cities in the United States. The state of Oregon is the home of a lot of high-tech companies such as Intel, NVidia, and NIKE – where our students can often secure internship. The university is 3.5 hours from Seattle, and many of our students find internship at Microsoft, Amazon, Tencent Lab, and Alibaba Lab in Seattle.
OSU is one of the leading universities in artificial intelligence and machine learning (ranks 24 in the United States according to CSRankings: http://csrankings.org/#/index?ai ... ning&nlp&ir). The school of EECS offers PhD degrees in both ECE and CS, whichever you prefer.
