我是今年8月份到University of Houston Clear Lake 学习的,专业是MIS(信息系统管理).感恩节前学校的教授突然很NICE的请我帮
忙,他说中国学生普遍素质较高,热爱学习,他希望能有更多优秀的中国学生能够到UHCL的MIS专业学习,他愿意提供尽可能的帮助以支持学生顺利完成学业.
说实话当我听到这样的请求时觉得很惊呀,当然更多的是感动.想当时申请学校希望能收到录取信和奖学金,不知花费了多少精力,而
等信的日子更是难AO,而现在美国的教授居然在为找不到合适的中国学生而烦扰,想来可能是我们了解美国学校的信息渠道太少了,而一所一所学校的找往往太费时,也容易错过一些机会.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to share with you the information about MIS Graduate Merit Scholarship for MS degree in Management Information Systems at University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), Houston, Texas, USA. This scholarship would provide a significant support to students towards their tuition and fees.  For international and non-resident students, the scholarship qualifies the students for in-state tuition rate.  The scholarship is open and competitive, and its award is based on an applicant's GMAT score and academic performance in the prior undergraduate and graduate studies.
Once accepted into the graduate MIS degree program at UHCL, the student can also apply for part-time jobs on the campus that pay about $500 per month.  The student housing is available within walking distance from the university at a very reasonable cost to the students.
The Management Information Systems Program at UHCL is a highly technical program that prepares students for positions such as Network Administrator, Database Administrator, Database Application Developer, Business Applications Developer, Web Applications Developer, etc.  During their coursework, the students are also prepared for and required to take various external certification tests such as Oracle Application Developer, Microsoft Visual Basic Applications Developer, Microsoft Web Applications Developer, Cisco Certified Network Administrator, Cisco Firewall Administrator and Microsoft Windows Server Administration.  If received at commercial training centers, the cost of these certifications is typically multiple times the tuition and fees paid by an MIS student with the scholarship.  The MS in MIS degree accompanied with the professional certifications provides a high degree of marketability for the students in IT industry both in the US and abroad. The attached file lists the MS/MIS degree coursework requirements.  Dr. Naveed Saleem is the Chair of the Department.
The MIS Graduate Merit Scholarship will provide a great opportunity to a qualified student to study at a US university, in a high demand field, at an extremely reasonable cost to the student.
