版上讨论gatech经济学项目的帖子也很多了。它的唯一优势感觉是在于，选课自由和能修统计的学位。
但是请看我给那边的学姐发信和统计系主任发信得到的回复：

Well, as you said you don't really like Econ and want to transfer to MS Stat: this is a feasible strategy in the PAST semesters, but from this semester, the Stat program is shrinking their program size, so they are reluctant to accept transferred student to their program and it is much harder than before to add secondary degree, since the faculty size is also shrinking and they focus more on undergrads and Phds.

You can try to do this way, but at least for the first semester, you will need to choose the courses in Econ Department, and this incurs a big risk if they don't accept your request for transferring degree.
And it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to be admitted to the Math Department once you came here, as far as I know. Different department have different criteria in admitting students...
If you want to transfer to the other program in following semester, you have to maintain good academic recording in Econ department, because the whole university will treat Econ department as your HOME Department

In my class, one guy transferred to MS Stat, but he applied last semester and had classes with us in Econ Department for one semester, you know what i am saying right? This semeter, even for those who wanted to add a secondary degree in Ms Stat got rejected, and the coordinator of the MS Stat said that getting rejected is gonna be GENERAL for the following semesters.

If you don't like Econ, I suggested you to go for other programs you have been admitted to, as the Econ program here is kind of a marginal area in this university and gets less attention. At least in other university, the brand of the department and university could add more of your advantages.

congratulations on your admission in the school of economics. You wont be able to switch to the school of mathematics statistics MS since our admission processes are distinct. You can however attend statistics classes in the mathematics department during your cursus at the school of economics. If you still wish to switch later during your cursus to the MS statistics program, I cannot tell you whether this will be possible. You will have to discuss it with our graduate coordinator and certainly make an application to the program.
