Firefox 3 on Windows:
1. Reset your clock (EVEN IF your machine displays the correct time!) * Double-click the time at lower right hand corner of the desktop * A window will appear entitled "Date and Time Properties" * Click the tab for Time Zone * Make sure the time zone is correct for your LOCAL time - for Milwaukee, choose "(GMT -6:00) Central Time (US & Canada)" from the drop-down menu * Ensure that the box "Automatically adjust for daylight saving changes" IS checked * Click the tab for "Date and Time" at the top * Adjust Date and Time (as close to the minute as possible) * Click Apply * Click OK
2. Make English (en-us) the Top Language Open your browser, go to: * TOOLS * OPTIONS * Click the "Content" icon * Under the "Languages" heading, click the "Choose" button * In the window that appears, add "English/United States [en-us]" * Click on the English/United States entry, then use the Move Up button to move it to the top of the list * Click OK * Click OK again to exit Options * Close ALL open browser windows
3. Delete the Cache Open your browser, go to: * TOOLS * OPTIONS * Click the "Privacy" icon * Under the "Private Data" section, click the "Clear Now" button * In the window that appears, click all of the checkboxes available (saved passwords is optional to click, as many people don’t want to lose them) * Click the "Clear Private Data Now" button * Click OK again to exit Options * Close ALL open browser windows
4. Create Basic ePanther Friendly Settings Open your browser: * Type about:config in the address bar. Hit Enter * If prompted with a warning message, click “I’ll be careful! I promise!” * Type browser.cache.check_doc_frequency into the Filter: box * Right-click on the entry that appears and select "Modify" * Change the value to 1 * Click OK * Close ALL open browser windows
5. Create ePanther Friendly Cookie Settings Open your browser, go to: * TOOLS * OPTIONS * Click the "Privacy" icon * Under the "Cookies" heading, check "Accept cookies from sites" * Select " they expire" from the “Keep until:” drop-down box * Click OK to exit Options * Close ALL open browser windows
6. Update Content Settings Open your browser, go to: * TOOLS * OPTIONS * Click the "Content" icon * Check "Enable JavaScript" * Check "Enable Java" * Click OK to exit Options * Close ALL open browser windows
7. Update Security Settings Open your browser, go to: * TOOLS * OPTIONS * Click the "Advanced" icon * Click the "Encryption" tab * Check "Use SSL 3.0" * Check "Use TLS 1.0" * Click OK to exit Options * Close ALL open browser windows
8. Update your Java Open your browser, * Go to www.java.com * On the page should be a download link; click on it * Download the latest Java version to your computer * Install Java by following the directions it provides * Close ALL open browser windows
9. Open your browser and attempt to log in. If it does not work, restart your computer and try again.
