When the audiences watch the movie “super size me”, they criticize the advertisement bringing the obesity to the whole world. The unhealthy foods, like Mc Donald, are all the rage with striking yellow “M” board along the streets. Even more, they maintain that advertisements outweigh other causes of unhealthy eating habits, and the advertisers often cheat and mislead consumers to promote sales. However, I am convinced that advertising is not the most important reason when accounted for the high intensity of social work, the innocence of healthy eating habit, and the expense of healthy food. With the increasing life pressure, the intense social works occupy longer time than before; people shorten their cooking and eating in order to save time for working and studying. They care better accomplishment of their jobs rather than their food in dishes. It is not hard to understand why the junk and fast food become popular. Actually, it is unfair to criticize the instant noodle advertisement on the television, or the lay's potato chips prevent us keeping healthy eating habits. The pressure from severe competition leads to the healthy problems; the advertisements and irregular eating time just make them worse. In addition, ignoring the advertisement's effect, people know little about how to eat healthily. The products in the retails and supermarkets have risen rapidly, people undoubtedly hold more choices. Making the shopping list is according to the need of life and the diverse preference and their healthy concepts. However, the blindness of healthy eating habit results bad effects. Like eating shrimps with vitamin plies would cause disease, and even death, but it do not related to advertisers who promote vitamin piles in the campus. The aim of advertising is to sell products, not the bible of health. Furthermore, many advertisers realize that setting up a good image is an essential step for the long-time development, the advertisements on the television in KFC promotes healthy nutritious breakfast, which reminds each consumer the importance of keeping a balanced eating habit. And in KFC, selected set meals in the morning and pamphlets on the tables help consumers build up the concept of healthy eating habits. Besides, many other “unhealthy food producers” are more cautious of changing the self-images to advocate the health. In conclusion, taking many factors into consideration, I could not deny that some advertisements are advocating unhealthy eating habits that contribute partly to the bad eating habits. Nonetheless, advertisements are not playing pivotal role affecting our dishes, some inner elements of human beings can not be minimal. |
