A MS Graduate Student Position in Western Kentucky University

A two-year M.S. thesis degree student of food microbiology is available in Dr. Cangliang Shen‘s laboratory in Food Science Cluster, Department of Biology, Western Kentucky University (WKU). Accepted candidate will be financially supported for two years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and/or Graduate Research Assistant by Department of Biology, Western Kentucky University. Research projects will be conducted in a brand new food safety research BSL2+ lab in Research and Development Center of WKU south campus.  
Research projects will be focus on meat and/or produce safety.
Meat Safety: control foodborne pathogens during meat or poultry products processing, including stress adaptation and resistance of microorganisms to meat preservation procedures.
Fresh Produce Safety: developing effective postharvest sanitizing procedures for reducing food safety risks on fresh produces.

This position can be started on Fall 2013 or Spring/Fall 2014.
