但更重要的是理解这句话的意思
你读懂这句话的大意了 就知道你要填的那个单词要①和relaxed取反②和affectation取同
符合这两个条件的只有studied了

我有个语法问题想请教你，分析句子可以知道，逗号后面的句子是动名词引导的从句，但是我在做题的时候不清楚这个从句是修饰“inclement weather”的还是修饰前面整个句子陈述的事实。根据答案，后面的从句是修饰前面整个句子的。

我的疑惑是，如果从语法的角度，是不是这个从句修饰“inclement weather”和修饰前面整个句子都是合理的？如果不合理，那么当我碰到类似的情况的时候，我如何判断后面从句想要修饰的内容？

首先明确一点，逗号后面不是从句，而是主句的伴随状语。
伴随状语的逻辑主语一般情况下必须是全句的主语，在本句中是The space shuttle，就是说这个最终起飞的航天飞机缓解了科学家的心情。
mollifying或placating不可能修饰inclement weather，因为如果二者是修饰关系的话，中间是不会有逗号隔开的。

（1）因为伴随状语的逻辑主语一定是全句的主语，所以逗号后面一定是针对“the space shuttle”的；
