Playing computer games is a waste of time. Children should not be allowed to play them.

Last century has witnessed the great changes brought by the development of science and technology. When it comes to the far-reaching influence to children, there is no denying that computer games ranked among the top. Computer games were interesting and fascinating for children since they opened a new world to their life.

At the beginning of the emergence of computer games, children cannot help themselves thinking about this new, magical way to play games. In the past before computer games, children played in the real world, they played basketball in the open playground, flied kites in the field and played cards in room etc. These activities were all real. Then, when this new way to play run into their life, they just could not imagine how could this come true. Children were attracted by computer games by its particular power. When I was in elementary school, many students in my class spent lots of time playing computer games, for them, they could get a sense of accomplishment and glory at the same time. However, when they came back to class, they usually could not catch the teacher and so punishment could hardly be avoidable. In this vicious cycle, they could not get out of the game world and face their real life. In this way, we cannot deny that playing computer games is a waste of time.

On the other hand, children, nowadays, are burdened with great pressure than before. When they first stepped into school, they are pushed by their parents, their teachers and their classmates. Most time are spent to equip themselves with more skills, such as dancing, writing, drawing and so on. They are always studying in the classroom or on the way to go to the classroom and this phenomenon gives rise to a multitude of negative effects on their life. It is high time for people to give more time for children to choose what they like. Playing computer games is a good way for them to get relaxed, besides they will be more energetic after playing.

Playing computer games serves as a double-edged sword, in other words, the advantages coexist with its disadvantages. I am pretty sure that an appropriate amount of time spent on it would be an excellent choice.
