can't agree more; might choose between part time and Geneva (still have 3 weeks to think about it). Also, thanks for recommending the decent online program for me, but you know, even if I think they are valuable, it is hard to say whether the 'real market' will accept/recognize it or not (at least my boss doesn't ,hahaha)

agree. some supplmentary notes:

1. science education is not only about the skillset and technical. It is about the mindset and logic.
for example, a computer science bachelor wont teach the student every programming language they will see on the job in the future (which is impossible)
they just teahc the logic and mindset of how to deal with computer, and the students will have the 內功 to overcome the challegue in the ever-changing IT world.

2. BA = statistics with application in business
DS = statistical analysis with heavy computational requirement.
It will be horribly wrong for someone to understand them as a subset of statistics.

Mathematical statistics is somehow a branch of statistics indeed. Industry really wont care it (as in real life application, people just want to make sure things works well in practice, instead of caring if they work well in theory). So does a professional data science / statistics master. They are likely left for those interested in academics and PhD.

3. also agree that BA is not for anyone interested in any senior technical / research role.

ar yes.......well, the market is kind of ...mixed.
if someone has a solid stat/cs bachelor, and want a master level education to boost their CV, that maybe fine. but for those without a solid proof of STEM education, online maybe a big concern.

P.S. 有acceptance deadline的嗎? 其實我覺得你可以再試一試好一點的學校和program的.
Technical uni的data science不夠競爭, tech uni的stat如何?

我覺得geneva is fine (course availability in English is a big concern, unless you are comforntable to take a statistics / CS course in French.), 但是你應該能拿到好一點點的offer的. 反正申請費在辭職的機會成本下不算甚麼.....

Yes!! and I belong to those without a STEM major =__=, too risky.

I already sent the email to the program asking whether I could delay one year (not replied yet). I will consider about it and try to apply to a better uni. (但说实话申请时的感觉就是德语区更讲究科班出身，而且又冲着几个最好的学校所以还是悬，作为地产出身的其实觉得日内瓦不是个最好的选择也还凑合，要是自己没这份工作就想也不想直接去了。)
