Two fully-funded Ph.D. positions (starting Fall 2019) are available from the Lightwave Technology Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla).
Our group of engineering researchers incorporates cutting-edge advances in novel sensor technologies that address critical problems in science and industry. Current research thrust areas include fiber optic sensors; photonic/microwave micro/nanomaterials, structures, devices, and sensors; Ultrafast laser machining, processing, and characterization of micro/nanostructures, materials and devices; Sensors and instrumentation for applications in harsh environments.
Currently, our group has a diverse student profile includes students from China (Huazhong University of science and technology, Nanjing University, Tianjin University, Tongji University, Shanghai University, etc.), Pakistan, India, Thailand, U.S., etc. The group also has two postdocs and one senior research scientist.
Requirements:
1) BS or MS in EE/CpE/ME/physics or related areas.
2) Knowledge in fiber optics, electromagnetics, or waveguide theory is preferred.
3) TOEFL/IELTS and GRE are required.
If interested, send your CV and transcripts (standard test results are not required to initiate communication) to prof. Jie Huang at jieh@mst.edu.
