前几天给我关系比较好的几个ap发了邮件,一个是做环境的在rff,一个是我们院(cornell aem)做micro development和regional development,我把他们的回信贴在这边给他家参考:
环境的老师:
You should add a few places if you are interested in applied programs or environmental econ:
Berkeley ARE - they have the best environmental econ training out of any university
UC Davis Econ - Dave Rapson is there
Harvard Policy - lots of good people there including Joe Aldy
UCSD Econ - Mark Jacobsen is there
NC State Econ - safety, Roger von Haefen is there
Stanford Econ - dream school, Larry Goulder is there
UChicago Harris School - lots of good people there including Koitchiro Ito
Michigan Policy School - safety, good econ training
Minnesota Applied Econ - safety, Steven Polasky is there.
You should consult other faculty as well to see who they think would be good to work with. If they mention someone that is at a university that is not on your list, add that place to your list.
Don't worry if your list is getting long. Apply to all of these places plus your list. The marginal cost to you is small and the potential upside is big.
发展的老师:
Here is my opinion about PhD programs for development economics:
Top: MIT, Berkeley econ, Harvard econ, Northwestern, Harvard Kennedy, Yale
Next: UCSD, Brown, Berkeley ARE, Cornell Dyson, UC Davis (econ or ag econ), Boston U, Princeton, Chicago, Stanford, Michigan
Next: Wisconsin, Minnesota ag econ, USC, Michigan State ag econ, UCLA, Illinois (econ or consumer econ), Columbia
And there are good people scattered throughout other programs, so there are great opportunities elsewhere if you find the right mentor.
这两个老师都非常了解我,最后我打算申其中的一些学校,但大多数我都没有申。。并且因为觉得自己很菜所以基本上是调低了一档申的。
以上信息供现在还在纠结定位的孩子们参考
