Social media has steadily became one of the biggest influences of society today. This paragraph will discuss “how does social media affect teenagers’ mental health” by katie Hurley in both positively and negatively. To begin with, there are many positive influences for teens. As what the article said, “teens who... ...social media.”(Hurley, 1) Accordingly, it can be seen that lots of children in nowadays can not get happiness without social media, because of the personal reason. Hence they usually do not dare to communicate with one another face-to-face in real world. Therefore, the appearance of social media make a good help for such teenagers yo socialize easily and immediately. Thus, social media plays a positive role in teens life. Secondly, except the positive aspect, it is easy to find that the negatives tend to feel bigger than the positives for social media. What is the text shown that “ too much time... ...depression”(Hurley,2) For to much social media, teens will focus on likes. Then they will make choices they would otherwise not make. Beside this one, it can also cause cyberbullying, making comparisons, and less face time, and much more. In the end, teens may live in loneliness, and misunderstand a lot of real things which always happen in real world. However, the mean reason is that teen-ages could not make friends in real’s, because they barely feel comfort to stay in a virtual relationship. Thus, social media sometimes will become bad if teens don’t know how to use it correctly. To conclude, this paragraph discuss “how does social media affect teenagers’ mental health” in negative aspect and positive aspect written by katie Hurley. This shows social media, even though often seen much as a negative, can make a real difference in society for good, for teenagers.
