经过漫长等待，Purdue 终于给我最终答复了， 是拒信， 太让我伤心了。 :O:O想不到，Purdue给个Ad 都这么难。

Dear XXX:

Thank you for your interest in the graduate programs in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Purdue University. I regret to inform you, however, that your application has not been accepted. Competition for the limited number of spaces is very keen and we had many more qualified applicants than we could accept. I wish you success in completing your graduate educational and professional goals.

:@不服气，写信追问被拒原因，得到如下答复：

首先是来自一位Professor的

Dear XXX,

I'm sorry that your application didn't make it through. With regard to why it was rejected, there were  a combination of things including the relative ranking of your application in relation to many others that we received, the limited number of assistantships, the lack of interest in your application by the faculty etc. etc. The same criteria will apply next year as well, making it almost impossible to suggest what could be done to enhance your chances if you apply again. I do appreciate your interest in our department.

看来 Purdue审核的过程与传言一致。 这位教授虽然没有直接道出被拒原因，但是我很感谢他对我的尊重，所以又回信答谢了他一番。


接着是小秘的回信：

XXX,

Dr. xxx copied me on his response to your question.  I don’t have any further information for you as I don’t participate in the evaluation process.  It’s my job to process the incoming applications and send out the appropriate response letters.  I’m sorry I can’t help you further--I wish you much luck and success in your academic career.

很尽职的小秘。没话可说了。

现在想想，申请Purdue其实是自己的一厢情愿―― 研究方向相近的教授，套了不回。 有点沾边的教授，回了，又说没钱。 加上申请的人狂多。呵呵，这种申请只能作为一次经历。

说回来， Purdue并不是我最想去的学校，据了就让她去吧。 祈祷着能有更好的学校给我带来惊喜 ^_^  An Optimistic Boy :)

总算有一个学校给了我最终决定了，自己的申请状态从此改变。 Bio 的同志们， 发力啊 ！
