2007-2008 PhD Recruiting Message from CSE@HKUST (香港科技大学计算机科学及工程学系2007-2008学年博士生招生通知)

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is recruiting PhD students to start in fall 2008. We are looking for outstanding undergraduate students as well as outstanding graduate students with a master's degree who have some experience in research. We are looking for students in all areas in computer science, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, computer vision and graphics, computer networks, databases, embedded systems, software engineering and systems, the design & analysis of algorithms, computational geometry and theory. In particular, we are looking candidates with a master’s degree interested in areas of machine translation and natural language processing.

Our department consists of outstanding faculty members and graduate students. The body of PhD students is over 100. After getting their PhDs, our students have found jobs in major research labs such as Microsoft Research, Google, IBM and top universities in Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. A student who has a master's degree is expected to graduate with a PhD in 3-4 years, and an undergraduate degree to graduate in 4-5 years.
