V：fatsnail! (极其怪异的发音，使我对这二十年来最熟悉的两个字顿感陌生)
F：指自己作疑问状，VO点头，上去。
F：How you doing sir? The card.
V: Fine, Thank you.
V: So you are from PKU?
F: Yeah, last year I graduated from PKU
V: What did you do this year?
F: I FINISH my undergraduate research project in a National Lab, I also acce
pted a job as a teaching assisstant. Do you want to see my ....(本来想说Publ
ication and Resume, 被打断)
V: What degree did you get from PKU?
F：BS Degree (失误，应该在前面一句话说出来的)
V: Who is this? (指我DS表上的两个见证人)
F：Oh，one is my TA director, another is my advisor
V: Last time you were rejected, what's the change? (看来被副领事据就是惨，连
美男都不随便翻案，搞得我很FT)
F：Last time I think there is something misunderstund. I said "Medicine" mea
ns drugs, not means acupuncture, bone-setting (上次我被副领事以没有工作经验据
，这个词的误解——主要是我的误用——有极大关系) (问题有点突然，脑子有点糊涂，
语言也乱了。发现还是没说清楚，赶紧补充) My interested area is using biochemi
cal method to study the active components in Traditional Chinese Medicine. (
本来还想强调我从事的是basic research，一个停顿被美男抢去了)
V: You want to study CHINESE medicine, why in US?
F: I want to study the active components from TCM, the methods and ideas are
very similar with western sciences, and US is strong in biochemical researc
h.
V：Do you get some new materials, like the letters from UIUC?
F: Yeah, these ARE support letters. (赶忙递进系里和招生办的SL)
V: 看SL.
F: Do you want to see this support letter from my advisor? (我想让他看看实验
室老板的SL，信里证明了我这三年多干的东西，发表的文章，今后的Plan，他会给我的
位置...容量超级大，一封省我好多话。曾经想说什么也要让他看这封信的)
V: 不予理睬
F：再次FT。
V：So you stay here for a year to apply an American university?
F: 想说yeah,但到了嘴边又软了，觉得他话里有话，但还是小声发出了yeah这个音(没准
这就叫惯性吧),赶紧补充，I Finish my project and I have...(被打断)
V: You graduated last year, and you did nothing this year just to apply an A
merican university? Why?(明显的怀疑语气)
F：有点急了，说了一句什么忘了(不是三字经什么的)。理了一下思路
First, I FINISH that project and have many publications this year.
Second, I stayed in a national lab for 3 years, I know we have enough funds
and research facilities, but the methods we use belong to last century(这个词
用的太狡猾了), I wanna get some fresh ideas!
V: 点头(Fatsnail松了半口气)，Give me your transcripts.
F: 拿出信封，没想到那么难撕，灵机一动掏出兜里的身份证，用身份证边裁信封。还是
不好弄，一边划一边说 It should be made in dent!
V: 笑，接过去看。
F：发现有个重要东西没递上去，我和一个UCLA教授合写的书，这个也是曾经想不管怎么
样都要递上去的，抓过来，拍在玻璃上。This is a book I coauthered with an Amer
ican professor.
V: What?
F: 指着我的大名说，This is a book I coauthered with an American professor. T
his is my name
V: 看见标题，On earthworm?
F: Yeah, in Chinese medicine, earthworm is considered to have antitumor effe
ct, in my research, I found this protein (拿过一张彩色打印的大图，是我发现蛋
白的模拟三维结构)can kill tumor cells (开始想说PCD 或者 apoptosis，估计他不懂
，想想还是用大白话比较好)
V: 点头，事态开始向好的方向转折，我觉得这本书起了巨大作用，至少他开始相信我了
。
V: 还给我Transcript, I will issue you visa, but ...... background check on y
ou.
F: Do you need something else? (心里说不是要Transcript和Resume吗)
V: We have everything we need. 填蓝条。
F: Thank you, you made my day sir.
