2、To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities.Write a respond in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
It is asserted that studying major cities of a society is an indispensable way to fully acquaint with the most important characteristics of the society. It might be tempting to accede to the speaker’s opinion on the basis that major cities are generally centers of politics, economics, and culture of a society, which to some extent represent certain aspects of the society. Nevertheless, the assertion flies in the face of certain compelling reasons showing that one cannot understand all most important features of a society only by studying its major cities.
Admittedly, it is major cities in which people with diverse ideas from different background develop politics, economics, and culture, and furthermore build up civilization of a society. In major cities, we realize our rights to vote, to elect, to concentrate on and express our views about policies of government while accelerate the development of economic by working and consume, and prosper our culture. Studying major cities does allow for acquaintance with some aspects of a society: major cities found the evolution of society from backwardness to prosperity, or the very reverse change, which is most evident in developed countries.
However, in some countries, especially in developing ones, the gap between richness and poverty, also between well-developed cities and ill-developed rural regions is so huge that a society cannot be comprehensively understood only by showing its main cities to people. One typical example involves that Mexico City, the second largest city in the world, is well-known for its industry, commerce, service, and bank financial institutions while the overall economic condition of Mexico is in fairly low level. If we make a conclusion that Mexico is a top country in economic by studying Mexico City, we do risk getting into unilateralism. Furthermore, due to the impact of globalization, the large cities are becoming more and more alike. High-rise buildings people live and work in, avenues crowded by vehicles, and even parks living trees and flowers are of almost no difference in different cities.
In addition, when it comes to culture, the rural areas maintain more of traditional culture such as folk festivals, gorgeous costumes, and delicate food, through which we can learn more about a certain country. It is apparent that visitors or researchers know more and enjoy more about profound culture of China in Zhouzhuang, a small town adjoining to Shanghai on behalf of China’s culture in about 5000 years, than in Shanghai which is an international metropolis.
To sum up, to understand the most essential characteristics of a society, a variety of ways are needed, including studying its major cities to know about its flourish and its other areas to appreciate its customs and other aspects.

发现自己写的东西实在太狭隘了 I think you have done a good job. Your essay could get a 5 score. As required you have talked about from both aspects in which the statement might or might not hold true with concrete examples. Your essay also demonstrates facility with language, using appropriate vocabulary and sentence variety. However, I think some of the long sentenses are not necessarily so long as contents in it are not so related. for example, "In major cities, we realize our rights to vote, to elect, to concentrate on and express our views about policies of government while accelerate the development of economic by working and consume, and prosper our culture." Thanks for your commentary and approval.
I will do my best.
