迟到的签经---好友从美国发来的!
Background: To study for Ph.D. in Biostat. Got Master in Japan. Rejectedin Japan in June. Rejected in Beijing on July . This is the third time, interviewed by xtt in Aug, one week before school starts in US.
V: (My name)
M: How are you doing, Sir? Here is my card, in black, my favorite color.
V: (No expression at all, play with the computer for some while) It seems
that you got rejected in Japan once. Also in Beijing.
M: Yes, the visa officer there told me that I went to the wrong place, and
I should go back to China to apply. In fact I have been to US before, when I was in Japan....
V: How old are you?
M: 27 years old.
V: Where did you get your undergraduate degree?
M: I got my Bachelor in ** University in China, then I went to Japan to study for Master degree in ***.
V: So why do you want to go to US?
M: Well, I want to use what I can learn in the US to design and conduct
*** for companies in China at a world class level (Interrupted).
V: I just can not understand why you wanna get the PhD in the US, why not in China, or in Japan?
M: Yes sir, I thought about it, in Beida, there is only one introductory
course in biostatistics, but in *** University, they offer 12 courses covering every aspects of Biostatistics. And in Japan, although University of *** is
very strong in fundamental sciences, their research in Biostatistics there
is too theoretical, I need an environment where application and theory
join up closely, this is why I want to study in America.
V: So what will you do after graduation?
M: Here you can see my career plan.
V: (Take the plan, glance at it a few seconds) just tell me what your plan is..
M: Of course I will explain it to you. Upon graduation, I will join *** Company which is run by my friend. We will start *** business. We want to do that because we see a GREAT opportunity arising in China's market (xtt 开始有些兴趣了)
V: What is that?
M: Chinese government will pass a law, in 2-3 years, that requires all the
............ But before, no foreign companies are reqired to do so..........So we see it a great fortune for our future business(Interrupted)
V: But when the law is out in 2 or 3 years, you are in the US? ( xtt 果然很聪明,好在事先有准备)
M: Yes, Sir, we see the chance, and we must prepare early. If we wait for the law out then do something,
we will be too late to get a share in the market.
V: Will you be a researcher? (A dangerous question!)
M: No, I will be in charge of designing and analyzing the *** I will do the real work.
V: You got a support letter from the company? (Visa 倾向我这边了)
Me: Sure, here you are. (The officer was reading the letter for about 10
seconds). You know Sir, we believe that this business will go successful
in China, so I want to go to US to study the necessary knowledge (interrupted)
V; Your TOFEL score sheet.
M: Here you are.
V: Do you speak Japanese?
M: Yes I can, I took some Japanese language courses in my first year study in Japan, but gave seminars in English, in my last year I began to gave seminars in Japanese. But my Master thesis is written in English and I am ready to publish it. (Push my paper into the window)
V:(Begin to overview it, but will know nothing, since it is pure mathematics)
M: The topic is about ***(Bs Model, a model frequently used in
***. But my thesis is so theoretical. That is exactly why I want to continue my study in the US, I want to learn the practical thing also.
V: (Push back my paper, and begin to write something down to My DS forms.)
Ok, go to Window 10 to get your visa.
M: Thank you, sir, have a nice day.
