50) Government officials should rely on their own judgment rather than unquestioningly carry out the will of the people they serve.Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.

Obviously, it is not wise for the government officials make political decisions totally on their own judgment, in another words, ignore the will of the people they serve. Voters elect government officials for their constituency by wishing these elected leaders could care for their will so that benefit their life. From this point of view, if the state employees cannot stand for the will of the people they serve, surely, they would lose the next election campaign. Therefore it is short-term focus to lose voters support.
Even if the government official was powerful enough to take out the political decision without support from his or her constituency, it is certainly that such kind of action would not succeed in the end. For instance, the Iraq war was started by George W Bush, American former president, who ignore the will of American people and made the decision all by himself. Finally, protests forced Bush to end that ridiculous war. Consequently, I live in the belief that government officials need to gain their voters support before they implement their political decision; if not, they surely will fail in the end.
In addition, decisions made merely by the judgment of the government officials are likely to be wrong. It is known to all, that listen to the both sides and one will be enlightened; heed only one side and one will be benighted. As government official may not be able to notice all the aspects of one thing, it is very important for a government employee to make a full realization of a problem by investigating the will of people they serve before making decision.
In a nutshell, ignoring the will of people will lead government officials to a totally failure; even be harmful to the people and nation.
