The author argues that because major cities is important in the preservation of cultural traditional in a notion, government must thrive it with great financial support. Although I agree that its important to keep financial assistant to big cities, however it’s too hasty for the speaker to conclude all major cities role in traditional protection, and developing of convention is the only reason to support big cities.
Whether major cities is the primarily place to preserve and generate a nation’s cultural is different between regions and countries. In the developed western European countries like France , Netherland, majority of population are living in cities, developing variety city cultural since late 19th century. Also buildings which were designed by architects of middle times or even rome times have been well preserved in major cities in Europe. In contrary, in countries like India and china , while most people still live in vast villages, where traditional cultural have been born and grown for thousands of years, major cities just act as any function but not preservation of nation.
Even if major cities don’t play the important role for cultural tradition protection, government still should give great financial support to assure the blooming of them. Keeping major city in healthy development is not only important to cultural , but also to several aspects as follow.
Financial assistance for major cities can improve live quality of citizens. As there are lots of people living in major cities, requiring better service of housing , healthy care, education and so on, big cities government can use the financial support to better address those society problems to ensure a better environment for civilian.
The economy of major cities can also get great benefits from the financial assistance. With plenty source of money , the government can create funding which aid companies in critical conditions, or small good-development firms to make a great business environment for economy. Additionally, the financial supporting can make some space for local government to alleviate tax burden on companies to motivate their vitality to further improve economy.
The better development of major city under government financial support is meaningful to the image of the country. Because major cities of a nation is the first step of visitor from other countries, they usually build up their first image of the country with experience in major cities. with more money in hand , major cities can greatly improve its constructions such as airport, railway station, roads and so on , leaving a good impression to tourist. Cities tour industry can be well improved as well.
In sum , though different countries major cities play quiet dissimilar role on preserving cultural traditions, government should provide financial support to major cites , not just for cultural thrive, but also life quality of citizen, well development of economy and good impression of tourist.
