3.Universities should require every student to take愀 variety of courses outside the student’s field of study.     Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

The speaker asserts that student must take courses outside their major of field.
Undeniably , it is quite appealing staying at a normative position, and I consent
insofar as education could be quite effective if each student get wide tange of
knowledge. Nevertheless, mandatory  method without concerning students' interest or
requirement will result in a opposite effect. In addition, some universities are
unable to offer lots of courses in different subject.

It's true that the speaker's assertion that students take a variety of courses
outside his field has many merits. Each of the knowledge of different subject is
connected to each other. Broad range of knowledge avail student to think about the
problem from different amgles and faces. A telling example of this ivolves that
having Mathematics course like calculus or liner algebra will help Economic major
students more easy to understand the content of Economics. Like the Economic
students, Physical students and Computer Science students will be benifit form
learning maths. Having literature course will increase science student his writing
ability.

But these advantages occured only if students are interest in their additional
course. Interest is an essential part of learning. The more interesting a student
finds a course, the more time and efforts he/she is willing to devote; the more time
and efforts he/she devotes, the more progress he/she is likely to make in the
course; the more progress he/she makes in a course, the more interested he/she is in
the course. Therefore, interests serve as ink is to a pen or wheels are to a car.
Were they removed from our educational system, our students wouldn't learn by heart
a number of disciplines every day which they cannot find any interest in. These
tast-takers would remember everything before exam and forgot knowledges over after
got A scole. What's worse, they even might cut class for the boring things which
they weren't interested in. I have seen one of my classmates always sleeping in the
maths class for she is not interested in maths, but she is outstanding in the
literature. She finally gets job in newspaper office and forget almost everything
learned in maths class.

There are plentiful studets being interested in many subject indeed. However, they
have to find a major subject devote themselves to. Wasting time in too much course
will lead students to learn the shallow knowledge. Too much of the course get rid of
students many free time to review their obtained knowledge, which will make students
lose their confidence in learning and finally lead to vicios circle.

In the college side, some universities are unable to offer lots of courses in
different subject. Economic problem will make universities have no more money to
hire more professors. In small university, there may be only a small amount of
students want to learn some course like Latin. So it's not necessary to offer this
course. Besides, having no enough professors in course like Chinese to hire can't
satisfy students want to learn Chinese.

From what has been discussed above, we may draw the condition that we shouldn't
forced students to learn course which they are not interested in. College could
encourge students to find their interest and get knowledege of wide range. The
effective educatin, in my appreciation, should be designed to let students best
develop their needs and interests.
