     a、当今全球化程度日趋提高造成代表性下降,各国社会的主要城市逐渐趋同,丧失独特个性;
     b、另一方面,某一社会各个地区发展程度差异很大,造成主要城市反而成为特例,如中国,北京、上海等城市的繁华不能说明中国的发达,许多乡村地区非常落后。
3、事实上,由于主要城市代表性的下降,我们很难仅仅通过研究他们理解社会特性,而当我们深入与较小的城镇时,反而可以得到社会的全貌
作文如下:

2. To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities.
An integrated society consists of different elements, such as legislation, culture, folk, technology development, and so on. Completely understanding the most important characteristic of a society requires abundant researches in every area of the society, which consume large quantities of time. Therefore, how to profoundly understanding the paramount feature of a society is becoming an ineluctable question and here is the solution: studying major cities of a society.

Undoubtedly, major cities of a society indeed involve almost every most important characteristics of it. Primary cities always represent the most powerful and prosperous areas of a society, which means they could profoundly influence the society they involve in. Amsterdam, for example, is famous for its tulips which is also the national flower of Netherlands. Moreover, primary cities assimilate different cultural element from disparate area as a result of inclination to flourishing cities. Immigrants from every corner of world bring to New York so various local customs and practice that New York has entitled one of the most multicultural cities in America which is a melting pot of cultural diversity.

However, this kind of representativeness is vanishing gradually as the rapid process of globalization. Although the major cultures still sustain their uniqueness, the features of celebrated cities like Shanghai and Los Angeles can be seen to be convergent. Skyscrapers and the neon light overshadow the unique characteristic of different cities, which make them indistinguishable. What is important is that regions consisting of a society have discrepancy in development level, in particularly, in developing country like China. One can not, according to prosperousness of Beijing or Shanghai, imprudently draw a conclusion that China has entered the range of developed country while poverty in rural areas is noticeable. Consequently, investigation in countryside will be a accurate way to understand Chinese actual condition currently instead of primary cities.

Actually, with the assimilation of major cites, it is insufficient to deepen understanding of the most significant feature in a society only through major cities. Big cities are always so filled with pursuit of material satisfaction that they are not able to be regarded as a symbol of the authentic nature of a society. In contrast, respectively small cities or towns, which have been retiring from struggle for political and economical interest, capture exactly the ethos of a society. The researchers in the University of Cambridge have investigated several disparate cities and country in Britain. Surprisingly, they found that the most famous urban regions only display 30 percentages of cultural characteristic, whereas 70 percentages appear in rural area.
In summary, in general my perspective is that not only should scholars or researchers examine a society through its major cities, bus also can not neglect the significance of towns or countryside equally, probably more importantly, contributing to society characteristics. Combining these two investigation direction, we are capable of capturing the entire panorama of a society.
