All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world’s most persistent social problems.It is time for people all over the world to unite together and make an effect in solving the most persistent social problems such as territories, wars, poverty diseases globally. The establishment of a global university by all nations is possible to help the progress, however, many other steps should be taken in order to reach this magnificent goal.
A university setting by all nations can play a significant role in solving current social problems. First of all, a global university can offer a favor platform where specialists of various social and cultural backgrounds are communicating with each other. Therefore scientific researches dedicated to increasing welfare of the whole human beings may come into being, as well as some literatural and artistic inspirations. Parts of influential works born in the sustainable forum of Chinese \ and American universities illustrate this. Just in the forums of sustainability taken place in Peking University last June, many famous professors from many countries were attracted, and discussed solutions to one of the world’s greatest problem—sustainability together. Many new ideas were proposed in this forum. Hopes for global sustainability are enlighten here.
Moreover, students from different nations will get educated in this special university. They are able to absorb and learn to appreciate knowledge from every nation in the world, which help them understand more about diversity of cultures, religions and other factors of other nations. Then it is quite possible that they become loyal fighters for peace globally after they graduate and work in their own countries. Hence seeds of peace reducing conflictions between nations are spread over different nations.
However, it is far from enough by establishing a global university to solve all the existing social problems which are of great complexity and longevity. Not even mention that these problems are getting more intricate and unmanageable in the trend of globalization. More roles should join in to for the sake of solutions to global social problems.
To begin with, governments are of vital importance in solving such global problems. Some progressive measures have been and will be put forward in talks between different governments to reduce conflicts or famines in the global version. For example, for more than half a century Chinese and African governments are trying to research a consensus on development of Africa, which greatly enriches of some tribes.
Secondly, social responsibility of enterprises should be aroused in order to solve these problems. As it is known to us that many of the global social problems are generated from illegal and unlicensed pursuit of commercial benefit. For example, boundless exploits of natural resources in some developing countries by some large petrol companies lead to decrease of land productivity, hence famines and poverty there. The key of solving these problems, of course, should put a restriction on the companies.
With acknowledgement of social responsibility, these companies may construct the communities as well as they develop it. Poverty, famines, criminals and some other social issues, therefore, can be partly reduced.
As we are living in a world interwoven by technology, commercialization and information currently, all the elements of globalization, governments, non-governmental organizations, enterprises, universities and even individuals included, are responsible for solving the most persistent social problems. Besides university, many more roles should join in and much more should be accomplished.
