工科生想转统计或应数，求建议~
本人本科材料科学背景，但发现自己对这个专业不感兴趣，化学方面一直不是很好，倒是从小就非常喜欢数学，本科学的数学类课程成绩都很好，不打算读PhD，听说材料科学不读PhD的话很难找到工作。。于是萌生了转统计类专业的想法。。请问前辈这样做可行性如何？难度如何啊？小弟新人跪求建议 本帖最后由 cheesechan 于 2014-4-18 03:38 编辑Better please share which statistics related course you had taken?

我打算申请美国，2015fall，听说美国大学在换专业方面还是比较flexible的
目前来说学过算入学分的相关课程只有概率论与数理统计，然后就是其他课程用过R语言

要補些甚麼課, 建議可以參考加拿大學校的webpage - 他們對專業對口有很strict的requirement, 會列出要準備些甚麼.
具體能補多少就depends on one's own situtation了...
core的大概是regression, statistical inference.
還有其他的如multivativate, time seres, stochstic processese, survivail, survery, experiemental design, non-para, categorial data. <--------這堆主修也不一定有齊, 具體要那些就depends on purposed academics interest on application area了.
basic mathematics like nultivariate calculus, linear algebra之類就不需說是一定要的了
首先lz要确定一个大体的方向， 生统/金融统计/数理统计/统计图形……
如果是生统/数理统计的话，不读phd真心出路挺少的～～
金融统计，如果你想回国就业，是竞争不过国内名校研究生得～～
我今年申生统，朋友申统计，从申请结果来看～lz这个条件挺悬得，至少是好学校挺悬得～

better is with grade , but as long as you have reasonable number of them taken

Thanks. Where shall I include that statement? I mean if they find my required course work is not enough, will they ask me or just throw my application materials? Do I need to tell them in advance in my application? 另外一个角度：你高中期间有没有参加一些数学大赛？或者你有没有曾经突出的数学觉悟方面的例子？或者有没有参加过国际类的有关数学和统计的会议、Summer School等？还有，你的编程能力怎么样呢？这些都有助于说明你的数理能力，lz可以再详细地说说你的背景，这样大家也好给你参谋参谋:lol。
