The speaker claims that technology creates more problems than it solves, and may threaten or damage the quality of life. But in my point of view, it is not the case, with the help of technology the quality of people's lives is turning better and better in that technology solves more problems than those it creates.
To begin with, it is technology that ameliorates the quality of human lives. Today, technology, a main method of solving problems, has been generally applied in every field of our world. It is technology that saves more and more people lives from Death for it is the modern medic; it is technology that creates more and more products needed in daily lives for it is the industries; it is technology that offers more and more information from all over the world and all academic fields for it is the mass media. Technology is every part of life in that it is connected with every spot of the circumstances. For example, as Gene Engineering is applied in agriculture, vegetables are made bigger and productive, and fruits are made more delicious and even more colorful so as to attract more housewives' eyes. Simply put, technology is changing our lives, of course, towards a fascinating direction.
Second, the problems solved by technology are more than those created by it. Because most problems it brings to us are caused by the misuse of technology or by the weakness of it which could be decreased through a technological way. Take the application of Gene Engineering as an example as well. A terrorism organization once created a new kind of virus with an eye to threatening their government for some political reasons. It is a typical example of applying a technological method, Gene Engineering, with an evil aim. People may complain that such problems are created by technology which is unfair in that it is human ourselves create such problems, though technology is the instrument. Also problems may be raised by the immature technological method which could be solved by improving it by human. So to speak, when a host of problems are solved, a few new problems may be created correspondently. However, the mainstream is positive for that technology is used well generally.
Third, people could solve the new problems raised by technology by various ways. People can make new laws to prevent the technology from being abused; we can improve the incomplete method by technology itself and so on. It is useless that people always complain that negative problems threaten their lives without trying to solve them. And it is childish to complain the technology which is just a tool created and used by ourselves. To solve the problems is more important and significant.
To sum up, applications of technology are improving our quality of lives though it brings us some new problems.
