B、改变原意：原句有对比的意思，而B用that替换了but，改变了原意，排除。
C、although引导一个从句，需要主语和动词，如果你认为是省略主语和动词的话，需要满足1、从句主语与主句主语一致2、动词为系动词的变体；而此处sighted好像是动词，又好像不是，反正有这种疑问的话就不用选好了
D、看C的解释，排除
E、which修饰surface了，这不瞎扯呢吗？排除

我用新东方老师教的方法解答，比OG的解释要快。
首先看所有格the festival’s month与the month of the festival
因为A's B这种结构，A必须是有生命的，比如人和动物。例如：father's book.
the festival非人非动物，所以不用A's B这种结构，故the month of the festival优选
排除A、B
原句in that 想表示一个类似于原因的意思
C选项，when引导时间状语从句，改变原意，排除。
E选项，By表示通过什么方式，不是原因，改变原意，排除。

补充：D选项，For可以引导一个表示原因的句子

原句想表达的意思是：（大概就是这样，别和我抬杠）
奥林匹克帮助希腊世界处于战乱的各国保持和平，因为在运动会期间有个短暂的休战被宣布。

B中proclaiming，逻辑主语是The Olympic Games ？ states ？还是the Greek world？只要有这种疑问，就是句子指代不清。另外“...，doing...“这种形式doing可以指代前面的整个句子，前面的句子是原因，doing后面的句子是结果。这样倒是能让本句语法解释通,但是原句意思想表示truce是原因，而The Olympic Games 是结果。
这是经典的逻辑颠倒错误。

C中的they，指代的是The Olympic Games ？ states ？还是the Greek world？只要有这种疑问，就是句子指代不清。
