What is the surest indicator of a great nation? Yet the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists could partly reflect the strength of that nation, but the essential demonstration to represent the surest condition of a nation is not famous few but the general welfare of all its people.
Fundamentally, we cannot overlook the important role of rulers, artists and scientists. Without effective rulers and public officials’ governance to keep our society well-order and stabilization, the security of a nation even cannot maintain, not to mention the general welfare of all its citizenry. Without great artists create beautiful and meaningful art works to foster people's ethic and internal value, the nation may bog down the shortage of innate and inherent essence. Without intelligent scientists to invent advanced technology, the nation's development would be impeded by the lack of developed technique. Therefore, all the rulers, artists and scientists are pivotal and even indispensable to a great nation. They are the sufficient conditions to maintain the nation well-being, give it affluent spirits and advanced technologies.
However, the true representation of a great nation is not the significant achievements by few people, but the social welfare and the well-being of its citizenry. For instance, if a nation actually has many dramatic breakthroughs in academic area, such as science or arts, but unfortunately, the government blindly invest almost whole government revenue to research but ignore the feelings of its citizen. However, the nation cannot be considered a great and successful nation, no matter how huge and vast the academic achievements it create. Moreover, if the nation still omit the citizenry and maintain brute force, public may fight for their human equality and basic freedom eventually. Thus, the existence of the nation is even uncharted, let alone judge whether it great or not. Even though with the time passed, that nation pass into history, contemporary would also conclude that this demised nation is wholly aborted. Yet this assumption seems cynical and extreme, the perdition of Shang Dynasty in China has in fact proven the undoing of a nation due to ignoring the welfare of its citizenry, thus, this view is realistic.
Moreover, the purpose of rulers, artists and scientists' work is to bring a better life to people. Such as the destination of our government is to protect national security and keeping social stability; the original idea of the artists' work is from the true feeling of their daily life; the objective of the scientists' research is to give people more convenient, comfortable and effective life. Without this clear destination, their works may lose meaning. Moreover, the rulers, artists and scientists all live in the society where all people lived. If most of people cannot satisfy with their current life and even hardly to bolster their family, how can those so-called superior people work well in such circumstance? Obviously they hardly could.
In conclusion, I agree with the speaker insofar that the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists could partly represent a nation's giant and power. However, the surest indicator of a great nation is the general welfare of all its people. Moreover, all the works no matter who do are due to maintain the social welfare. Therefore, the surest indicator of a great nation is the whole people's happiness.

"When XYZ lays off employees, it pays Delany Personnel Firm to offer those employees assistance in creating resumés and developing interviewing skills, if they so desire. Laid-off employees have benefited greatly from Delany's services: last year those who used Delany found jobs much more quickly than did those who did not. Recently, it has been proposed that we use the less-expensive Walsh Personnel Firm in place of Delany. This would be a mistake because eight years ago, when XYZ was using Walsh, only half of the workers we laid off at that time found jobs within a year. Moreover, Delany is clearly superior, as evidenced by its bigger staff and larger number of branch offices. After all, last year Delany's clients took an average of six months to find jobs, whereas Walsh's clients took nine."

To support this recommendation, the author cites that their employees who used Delany found jobs quickly than those who not, also it has bigger staff and larger number of branch offices. Moreover, the author supports that when they used Walshy, there is only half of the workers found jobs within a year and Walsh's clients took nine months to find jobs, whereas Delany's clients only took six. However, this argument suffers a series of logical problems and critical flaws, and is therefore wholly unpersuasive.
Fundamentally, their current personal firm--Delany whether good or bad is uncharted, if we merely based on the author's evidence that their employees who used Delany found jobs much more quickly than those who did not. Common sense informs me that the destination of personnel firm is to promote laid-off employees' employment. If it improved, it is reasonable, but cannot demonstrate that the firm is superior. However, if it does not improve, it surely indicates that the firm is poor. Thus, if the author desires to prove the great quality of Delany, it needs to support other more cogent evidence to demonstrate it is really good.
Moreover, the comparison between Delany and Walsh is also unwarranted. We should notice that XYZ company was using Walsh before eight years. That is a quite long period that so many conditions may be changed during eight years, for instance, the economy and the employment market. If there exactly had financial crisis at eight years ago so that many employees were laid off. Thus, Walsh helped their employees to find jobs within a year could actually demonstrate its strong quality but not poor skill. Moreover, the employees’ competency and the scale of employed company are all different, so that the comparison between them is wholly unreasonable.
Finally, the author's evidence that Delany has bigger stall and larger number of branch offices cannot clearly concludes it superior. More staff and branch offices could only demonstrate that its scale is really large. However, the skill of their staff and the management of their firm are also uncharted. Furthermore, the consumers of the two firms are unclear. That is to say, perhaps the Delany's clients are indeed better than Walsh's and easier to find job even without personnel firm.
In conclusion, this argument cannot be taken serious as it stands. To better evaluate it, the arguer needs to support more details and cogent evidences to demonstrate the superior of Delany and the inferior of Walsh. Moreover, even if Walsh is poor, there still exist some other firms. Our society now is so complicated and new that almost no one could tightly keep up with contemporary trend. However, we cannot beg the pivotal importance of experiences which could avoid many mistakes when making decision, no matter in which area such as business, politics, education and government. Therefore, the path to success for any enterprise is not only revitalization through new leadership, but could also improve the leaders’ ability and moral standard.
Fundamentally, we should notice the purpose of revitalization, which may lies in two core reasons. First, infuse fresh blood and bring novel idea to enterprise in order to improve their enterprise and lead them to succeed. For example, the new president of Google launched a new work to every employee that they should pursue their own interested work at least one day every week. This new and invented (inventive/innovative) measure (strategy/policy) brings many new service items such as "Google News" for Google, and then significantly increased their monthly visitors. Thus, we cannot deny the important role of invention in any enterprise. Secondly, revitalization could avoid some corruption for enterprise. Because many public officials and shareholders who have bribery behaviors are nearly upstanding at first, unfortunately, with time passed, the temptation of money and power throw them into the abyss of corruption. Thus, if we could renew leadership before the behavior of bribery, enterprise would keep a clean and well-being circumstance.
However, even though revitalization could bring some merits to an enterprise, the damage maybe overwhelming the advantages sometimes, especially in business, education and government. For instance, the business sea is so deep and broad that if one had little experience would lose gravely, let alone to lead a whole company to succeed. Any decision which the leader made would greatly influence the future of that company. So, without affluent experiences to deeply understand the principle of business, the enterprise may bankrupt by only one decision which launched by their new leadership. On the other hand, common sense informs me that education is so important that they teach our society's hope and future-children. The leadership, of cause the president of a school, control and operate that school. The idea, standard and avenue of how to effectively teach students are based on myriad of teaching experiences. Thus, the little experience of new leadership may undermine the efficiency and effect of their educational system. Government is similar to business and education. Any event in our society is complicated and interacted with each other, any respect of decision and law by government may affect other respects and even other countries. So, without glut of experiences to clear what our government should and must does, our society may disordered by the new leadership's novel idea. In short, the importance of working experience is also pivotal, and may a little more vital to some degree.
While it would be tempting to concede that the invention is important to an enterprise, but who says current leaders cannot think out any novel idea to make their company improve and even succeed? Obviously, no one could firmly say that unreasonable sense. Moreover, the new invention and decision must be based on a plethora of experiences and skills, but not daydream which too perfect to come true. The current leadership exactly has adequate experiences and as long as they continue to learn new technology and keep their candid ethic, they would keep with current trend and lead their enterprise to succeed.
In conclusion, the speaker's threshold claim is unwarranted for the reason that he or she omits the importance of experience.
