Hitler, a word always accompanied with [associated with更合适] brutality and holocaust, an aggressive person who manipulated German [Germany] and tortured Jews, remains etched in the mind of everyone who studies the history of [the] Second World War[或者直接用World War Two]. While studying those major events during that dark period, such as Normandy Landing [wikipedia上的词条是The Normandy Landings] or concentration camp [个人认为concentration camp不算major event的一种], what we remembered are mainly storiesand few individuals involved [while studyingwhile we are studying的缩略形式,所以后半句要用we作主语,基本上是we tend to focus on influential events and a few individuals concerned]. Death toll took the place of those silenced, those killed [看不懂]. Numbers defeated identities. [同上] Prominent figures always stand atthe front of historical remarks [同上], whereas most people who made the history have
always
been ignored.

There is no denying the fact that people are the wheels of history [看不懂],
propelling historical events [chinglish] and making impossible possible. Therefore, it
seems unfair that those people who made history would be [are或者were] forgotten. While considering [Given]
limited resources and means to make a record of history, it could be reasonable
that only [a]
few individuals left their footprints on the roll of history [“载入史册的意思咩?went down in history]. If each
person in history were a fish
in the sea, historical record were [主谓一致!主谓一致!] the finishing
net. You could imagine that only those sizable fish could be caught by the net [可省略].

The same theory applies to
history. Without thousands of soldiers who conquered Normandy at the expense oftheir lives, France would not be prevailed. [Had it not been for those soldiers killed in the conquest of Normandy, a turning point would never have occurred.]Nevertheless, recording the lives
of every solider [所有的or只是死了的?]would be a huge project and can be hardly [hardly be] carried out. If onlytaking notes of chief commander who were influential in this battle, this couldbe much easier. [It would be much easier to record the lives of some military or political leaders.]

History, as a matter of fact, puts more emphasize on thequality and less attention on the idea of quantity. [emphasize是动词,puts more emphasis才对,attention不能放在put … on 的句式里。可以直接用History values quality rather than quantity.]

History is a necklace strung by stories [这个表述有问题], and dramatic stories are
always made [make a story?有这个搭配么?]from those legendary figures whose actions have influenced others. In
the study of group dynamics, it is easy to find out that the majority of people
would choose to follow, and few would like to lead. Hence, the leaders in [the]
spotlight
would be easier to follow [easily catch attention].

The study of history is a process of connecting those [多余] stories, and
people in those stories would be naturally classified to leading actors orsupporting actors [fall into two categories: leading actors and supports]. Take a story happened [set] in [a]
concentration camps [单数] for example, EmanuelRingelblum, a Jewish historian sensed that Nazi were intent on obliterating orfalsifying every trace of their mass exterminations. He brought together agroup of academics, teachers, journalists and writers who can take the oralhistory [?], religion leaders, artists to gather testimonies from people in theghetto, so that the world one day would know what really happened in theghetto. People found every possible places[单复数!] to store evidences: tins, milk cans,
woods [这是不可数名词], hoping that these testimonies would one day be the evidence to [去掉] prove the
holocaust and the brutality of Nazi.

Unbelievably, they gather 35.000 document, stories and other poems and letters.

Ringelblum probably would be only [one of a] few names we could remember from thatevent[去掉], yet it by no means indicates that the history would only be constructed
by those glories [glorious] individuals whose deeds have been embossed. For every
historical event, there must be an Aragon [这个Aragon是指环王里的人物,最好给个出处。] leading his knights to cast off fears
and fight against enemies. Those Aragon(s) have charismatic characters toappeal to and inspire people. Great power comes with great responsibilities.
Those who are more powerful, be it the power of position or other forms, [去掉]have
to make certain decisions for the mass, thereby their ability and deeds wouldautomatically be remembered by history. [chinglish]

Indeed, history is made by people, from people, and also for people. [by the people, of the people, for the people这个结构不要乱用] Keeping a record
of what happened in [去掉] the past is an arduous work. If the purpose of history is
to let the following generations to [let sb. do sth.,没有to]learn what the [the ups and downs the] predecessors has [主谓一致!主谓一致!] experiencedin both prosperity and adversity [went through], then studying the history of [the]
few individuals
who make [have made] greater contribution with inspiring stories would not be an unwise choice.
