Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Newspapers and magazines are the best way of learning about a foreign country.
Asked what newspapers and magazines can bring to us, the response in our daily life has a boilerplate answer: the greatest contribution of media can help us understand some unfamiliar knowledge. Many people believe that other types of media such as Internet is more convenient than these traditional forms. However, considerable though the merits that novel media enjoy, they cannot compete with the advantages that newspapers and magazines lead to when some potential factors are taken into our consideration.
First and foremost, no one can doubt the essential fact that newspapers is still a major way for obtaining every day's news. Many people may go into question at mere mention of the fact that this type of media has been already outdated. Contrary to the viewpoint of many people is my heart-felt agreement with the idea that we can acquire some specific and detailed news by means of reading newspapers. It can be explained by an example in a practical context. China Daily, an English newspaper in China, is one of favorite newspapers for foreigners. It contains not only a variety of news happened just a few hours ago, but also lots of editorial in depth about this news. In that case, foreigners in China can better pick up some insightful comments about the Chinese society.
Similarly, the vivid expression of magazines is another consequential reason why I applaud with the fact that traditional media is very helpful for learning about a foreign country. It is not arduous for us to imagine that without some fascinating magazines, how can we understand an abstract substance in a concrete surroundings? Only through such compelling magazine, can foreigners comprehend an unprecedented world. Besides the world is laden with numerous instances to consolidate this idea. National geology, a geological magazine, contains a number of fantastic images for some intriguing landscapes in United States. Even we have never been in America, the beautiful view of Grand Canyon can also be vividly presented in front of us. We should not, therefore, be blind to the merits that traditional media bring about in order to avoid paying heavy prices.
Nevertheless, although newspapers and magazines contribute greatly to learning about a foreign country, some novel media may also invariably produce several benefits. It is widely acknowledge that some kind of electronic material such as Internet is much faster than other type of media. Internet may not, admittedly, yield as much impact on insightful comments as traditional media do. Whereas we should not ignore the fastness and convenience it brings about. Additionally, such paragons are scarce, they do occur occasionally. U.S news, an American news website, has kept on updating its content every hour. Along with this website, people can gain the fresh news occurred just one hour ago. That's cool! Hence the benefits that other media result in should undoubtedly be taken into the account, too.
In summary, from what have been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that both traditional and new media produce a far-reaching impact on our daily life. Significant endeavor must be placed into our mind to keep a balance between newspapers and Internet. Moreover, learning about a foreign country do not so much depend on either magazines or Internet as the appropriate method and attitude foreigners apply in the daily life.作者: 诺坎普之梦 时间: 2010-8-30 23:34:03
