The lecturer talks about that it would be more positive that private collectors own the fossils (isn’t it fossil trade?). He says that the theory stated in the passage was very different and somewhat inaccurate when compared to what happened for real.
First and foremost, public would more likely to expose the fossils for the reason that the fossil hunting always want to let someone purchase them. Even lots of institutions like universities and libraries do not retain them and allow the public to view their collections.(这个内容是哪里的?) This directly contradicts what the passage indicates.
Secondly, scientists cannot miss any important things of the fossils which will immediately belong to the private collections. As people should know the value of the fossils, it should be first to let the scientists to examine and test the fossils to get the details of them. Thus scientists can have access to all the valuable information of the fossils. This is another part that contradicts the theory stated in the passage.
Lastly, commercial fossils collectors can assist the fossils to be founded. Although it can bring some damage to the fossils, it still prevents fossils from going undiscovered. It is obviously that it is better than the condition that we even have no idea that where the fossils locate. The point is also differs from the argument in the passage.
